I know it's a big topic here on the DIS. Interesting discussion on The View.

What did she say? I'm surprised that she would be passing judgement, being overweight herself.
I don't think that Whoopi dissed people for just being overweight but for using ECV's in large numbers.
She did comment about herself being overweight. She mostly talked about the over abundance of strollers and evcs and the fact that people expected you to move out of their way because they had one. Plus people in EVCs trying to run her over.
It really wasn't a rant about overweight people, just rude people.
I opened a thread about this as well.. No she was saying that she LOVES WDW but she thinks its crazy that scooter people think they are the only ones in the park and they are beeping their horns for you to get out of the way.. Yes, she did mention overweight people but I think she was saying maybe some of these people could be walking instead that they are taking these scooters and being rude about it.. The same for the people with the strollers.. But, I think she meant more that people with strollers don't move out of the way either.. As someone who has been to WDW and have had to deal with rude people like this, I completely understand.. I think the overweight part of her conversation was part of it but not the main part..
The last time we were at WDW, able bodied people literally climbed over my DD as she sat in her wheelchair in the crowded line for the monorail when the park closed. DH had to take her out of her wheelchair and carry her so that no one would hurt her and so that she could breathe (her head is about at the height of an adults waist when she's in her chair so she couldn't get any fresh air because of the crowd).
The point is that it's not just people in wheelchairs or ECV that are rude at WDW.

That's exactly the way I understood what she was saying and I have to agree with her 100%. Some of those people on the scooters probably wouldn't be in them if they did some walking! I am slightly overweight myself but I refuse to let myself get so out of shape that I end up in one! We were walking up to the monorail when a woman in a scooter and a man were coming down, my friend and I got behind one another, but she absolutely refused to get behind her friend, almost pinning us on the rail....just plain rude, most of them truely believe they are entitled to the whole path! They go speeding around the world most of the time not giving a hoot about anyone in their way! I do know it is hard to navagate a stroller around when it is crowded but most people pushing them pay little attention to where they are going! So Whoopi's rant was right on with me! By the way her narration at the CP was great I really enjoyed her! I know she can be a little harsh sometimes and I don't always agree with her, but when you get run over by a stroller or a scooter several times during the day you can become quite upset, and chances are most of the time the RUDE ones never even acknowledge that they did anything! I know accidents happen and I am more likely to forgive if you at least tell me your sorry! Not act like it is all my fault that I got in your way!I opened a thread about this as well..
