Got back last night after hours and hours of driving (poor sister drove 1500 miles in a week). As I forgot to take any notes for a trip report, I'll just post a few observations.....
Saturday (16th) was PACKED. It was the busiest I've seen it for a long time (and I went on bastille day last year). The weather wasn't nice and there were a few heavy showers but that didn't deter any crowds. There were queues for every ride - in DLP, PM was in all the overflows and down into the entrance courtyard, IASM was in all the overflows, Pirates was all overflow and the queue started outside of the entrance, and it was repeated everywhere. And I have no idea why??!!
Crush's Coaster - yep. I rode it. Queued for two hours (!) as it kept having 'technical difficulties (always what you want to hear while queuing for a coaster!) Because of the queue design, there's not really a lot to look at so if you are going to brave it, take a book (I'm serious!!) Two verdicts on this - my sister loved it, and would ride it again and again. I hated it. We were travelling backwards so perhaps this had something to do with it (couldn't see what was coming) but my head didn't like the spinning sensation. It does feel more like SM rather than BTM. But it is quite smooth and I didn't feel ill after being on it, I just didn't like the sensation. I may try it again with travelling forwards so I can 'see' what's coming.
High School Musical on Tour - new 'show' in the studios. It doesn't look like it'll be much as they travel down the parade route in reverse (Rock n roller coaster -> Cinemagique) but they stop for a mini show in front of cinemagique and it's enjoyable. There's also a chance for children to get involved and they all seemed to enjoy it. It lasts about 10 minutes.
15th Anniversary wine - This was a MISSION. Couldn't see it in any of the park shops so a trip to city hall suggested the Disney Store in the village or the hotel shops. It wasn't in the Disney Store but in Buffalo Trading (whooo). They are 15 euros each (not too bad). Didn't check any of the hotel shops though so perhaps someone who has stayed in one could let us know.
Fast Passes - as everyone can now only hold 1, they do seem to be lasting longer through the day. This is fantastic as it meant I could FP BTM 3 times in one day. Because of the increased interest in the studios with the two new rides, the fast pass machines were working(!) It was quite strange seeing people get FP for the carpets!
Accomodation - tried a completely different approach this time and went camping! We stayed with Siblu at Les Etangs Fleuris. Nice drive to the parks - 30 minutes door to car park. Really quiet though - great for sleeping but nothing really to do onsite. It did make things cheaper though as we could self-cater. Might stay again, but I think next time I'll check out the citea residences in Magny Le Houge (sp?)
On an OT note, we went to Parc Asterix for one day and really enjoyed it. It made a nice change from Disney (no long queues) and there are 4 different water rides so if anyone likes them I'd recommend it. It is very french and not having grown up with ASterix it meant nothing to me, but the log flume alone was worth the 35 euros.
Thats about it - sorry that I forgot to do a proper trip report. I now have to do lots of washing and unpacking. Thats the only problem with taking the car - I've bought so much more stuff to fill it!
