I've been lurking on the family board for while now. I'm a new mommy and we had to cancel our Sept/Oct Food & Wine Festival while we were waiting on his arrival. Instead of totally canceling our trip, we rescheduled for Sept/Oct 2009! :goodvibes  :cloud9:

Little man decided to arrive on 10/1 and my b-day is 10/2 so we'll be able to spend both our b-days in the world!

Reading the boards has given me a lot of confidence about taking him and has helped me to convince Dh that it wouldn't be a horrible thing to reschedule the trip. I know a lot of how the trip goes depends on how the little man travels, but hopefully our carting him around everywhere will help him to develop easy travel habits.

Anyway, I just wanted to come out of lurkedom and share my joy. Keep those tips about traveling with little ones coming! I know I've got lots of time, but planning is half the fun!

Thanks! It's been interesting so far and I'm sure it will only get more so as he grows. ;)

I have friends that had kids and put traveling on indefinite hold status. My wife and I did just the opposite. Get your little one used to travelling. We drove from Minnesota to Orlando this past Feb while my wife was still on maternity leave with #2. You'd be surprised how well a 2 month old deals with a 20 hour each way car ride. Our 2 year old also did surprisingly well, but he's been on long drives and long plane rides before.

Some of my friends have said the same thing. One girlfriend said she was sure to take her boys to restaurants and out while she was running errands. She felt that it really helped them to learn how to behave in public. I have to say that I agree.

We've just booked to come over from Scotland in July when our wee boy will be 15 months - to be honest I'm dreading the flight but we just wanted to come so much we figured it'd be worth it.

I haven't told my best friend yet as I know she'll start ranting about how crazy we are to consider it!!

I can't wait to get him to Disney though!! :yay:
