We received the official schedule for the parades DSs' high school band will be marching in. (ugh-bad sentence structure but you get the idea!)

Anyway-they will be marching in Epcot on Thanksgiving morning and Magic Kingdom Friday PM. If anyone will be there, please give them a cheer!

Great-thanks! We'll be at WDW then. Is the Friday at MK the pre-parade for the afternoon or evening or are they at one location? I'll definitely try to make at least one of those.

I have done both f these parades... trust me, its going to be the most amazing memories from High School band. I cant even begin to describe the feeling. Specially when you see your family cheer for you on the side of the road. :) :goodvibes

Simba's mom-the Friday parade is in the evening. According to a guide that ranks the parks on crowds, Thanksgiving and surounding days are only a 7 out of 10. Very manageable I think!

Is there any way to see a schedule of school bands? I'm curious if any from my state will be there when i'm there after thanksgiving

There is usually an itinerary at the entrance of the parks.

Good luck, we are awaiting word for Easter 2007! I bet the Magic Kingdom will be crowded the day after Thanksgiving. I would avoid the park and just come in for the parade.

:cheer2: How Exciting! Our Band will be there in March and I can't wait to get all the details! Have a Great Time and take lots of pictures!!!!!:cheer2:

I'll be there Thanksgiving week! As a fellow member of a marching band, I'll definitely keep a look out. :) I marched down Main Street a year ago and it was definitely the best marching band experience I've ever had. Everyone was clapping, cheering, and even dancing. We even had people we didn't know video taping us! We were going to go again this spring, but because of fuel prices it's pretty much out of the question. :(

PeaPicker-I was also wondering if there was a website that had a list of marching bands, etc that were performing in Disney. I haven't had any luck finding that information.

Congrats, from a former mom to Marching Band Member. We marched in 2002 spring break at MK afternoon. It was such a thill to see my son and (all my kids Marching down Main Street). It is one of my son's best memories and mine. :flower:

One of my older DD's was in marching band marched twice at disney while she was in high school. She really enjoyed getting to march at disney but hates the fact that the 1 day was all her band ever spent at disney. Which really sucks cause 10 yrs ago it cost 800.00 for her to go to disney with the band they was gone 6 days and only spent 1 day at disney did cruise and went to beach etc. DH and I both went to disney for 6 days a few weeks ago free dining and everything only cost us 850.00

I always told the band director I could get him to disney cheaper than he was getting the trips thru the travel service he'd always used.

I was in a drum corps that marched in the MK three times. For a parade, it's one of the best (We weren't partial to parades. We liked competitions alot more). The MK parade was pretty short compared to most we marched in (some in NYC were over 5 miles long!), the crowds were great, the organization of the parade was top-notch, and the free air conditioning was a real plus (you can actually feel the temp drop about five degrees when you come through the gates from backstage!).
Hope you enjoy!

From one marching band parent to another - Yippee!!!

There's nothing in the world like staking out your spot early on Main Street - leading the crowd in 'pre-cheers' for your school - chatting with the CM's, some of whom were marching band themselves - then that moment when you see your field commander with the band behind them wheel into view.

We went in 2003 with our oldest DS and our DD, we're going back in 2006 with our youngest DS and our DD, and I'm already making plans. We go sometime during the week between Christmas and New Years - it's crazy busy, but that was our first experience with Disney magic (yup, my very first trip included NYE at Epcot!), and we'll never forget it!

Best of luck, and enjoy fundraising! There are lots of good ideas over on the budget board.

Enjoy!!! I was on the drill team in high school and our band was picked to march in the MK parade when I was a senior...that is a memory I will have for the rest of my life! It was such a cool feeling to be marching down Main Street!
