Who'll be at VGF opening 10/23?

Is anyone either checking in on grand opening day or planning on heading over that day? I'm staying at BCV, but I'll be solo, and I thought a great morning would be to head on over and see the opening morning. I've never been to a DVC resort on opening day before. Anyone know if they traditionally have any decorations, events, tours that day? Anyone else headed there?

Anybody know if they are going to do nameplates like they did for the people who bought first at BLT? We missed that. But I was told we were one of the first to close on VGF.

We will be checking in on opening day and staying 3 nights in a 2BR lake view villa. I am hoping they do some nice memorable things for official opening day...this will be our first time experiencing this at a DVC resort too!!! I am very excited and hope they don't let me down...wishing upon a star for something cool.

We are staying on opening day- we plan on heading up early that morning and checking in by 10am at the latest.

My family will be there opening day in a 1BR for 4 nights! Unfortunately, our flight doesn't land until 4pm so we'll miss out on any festivities. We were supposed to go to WDW from Thurs through Sun to coincide with my son's school break. But then I decided that I couldn't stay at a resort on Day 2! It will be a neat experience to stay in a hotel on opening day!

I talked to my guide this afternoon and asked if there is any special festivities going to happen on opening day and she said there is nothing special going to happen that she knows of (she double checked for me) unless in the next few days they announce something.

If they were, Disney would have hyped it to increase sales. IMO the founders acknowledgments in the past became a nightmare for DVC so the new management probably stopped it.

At AKV we had issues with our name tapestry that was going to be prominently displayed in the main lobby, it became a name robe hanging in the library. At BLT the fountain tiles lasted about a year and all of the tiles had to be replaced due to rust and corrosion.

I'm going to stop in while I'm there in November (staying at BWV). Made a reservation today for May, lake view studio, can't wait!
