Maybe I am doing something wrong but I am looking at booking 7 nights at RPH in June for 2 adults and a junior. I ran the numbers on the Universal web site for club level including tickets for the parks and came up with a number over 3,000 dollars.This seems high to me since in December I booked 2 rooms ,tickets,and food for 5 for about $3400 at Disney. I am definately going to book a week at Universal in June but it just seems that there should be a less expensive deal.

I , personally have never found a package that I thought worked for 5 people. I always book separately, the ticket prices are such a bargain now that helps, and as phamton says, check AAA rates and AP rates. Depending on when you are going the rate may drop so keep checking. I am going in June and staying RPR club level for 263$ AAA rate. I am buying one AP pass (costco 15 months for 180$) and 4 2 park 3 month passes (costco 85$). Club level gets us breakfast and drinks and snacks, wine and beer and dessert so that will help on some expenses. So basically we will be buying lunch, and ordering the boys pizza at night while we go out to dinner. I will be watching the rates to see if the club level price will drop for AP, but I'm not holding my breath since its June.

June is prime time and the RPH is a deluxe hotel. That might explain some of the price differences. Phamton is right. Look into AAA prices or annual pass prices. Purchasing one annual pass will pay for itself very quickly. Annual passes are not very expensive at Universal. Packages are not necessarily the cheapest ways to go.

The trip I am planning on will be 3 of us 2 adults and daughter 14. Planning on checking in on June 11 and checking out on June 18. I was leaning towards RPR because we have stayed there before and loved it. I was looking at club thinking it would save a little on the food bills. WE want to have tickets for both parks for 6 days. I don t belong to AAA but if someone has ideas let me know. Before the stuff gets stirred I am not knocking Universal in any way, we have been once and loved it. I just thought the rates seemed a little high due to the fact I did 2 rooms,tickets and food for 5 at Disney in December for $3400.00. Thanks

The AAA rate for those days is $183/night without club and $263/night with club. That is a lot of extra money per day. You probably will not get your money's worth. There are lots of nice little breakfast places at the park and at the RPR.

That comes to $1281 for hotels.

The annual pass rate is more expensive right now but might come down.

You can get 3 power passes for $119 each that will give you park admission to both parks for the entire time you are there. Or you can buy one preferred pass for $180 which gives you big food and merchandise discounts.

Come on now, if you can swing that big Disney trip in December and an on-site to UO in June, I'm sure you can handle a couple hundred bucks more here or there! How about buying one AP for $180, then leveraging your discount for an adult multi-day (5 days for $85, which includes a free kids ticket if junior is <10)? That brings the hit for tickets to $265 plus tax, and also gets you the aforementioned discounts on food across UO. Of course you are staying 7 nights, so there is a bit of a gap with 5 day passes, but you could always hang at CW or the hotels for a few days (I love UO, but 5 days at the parks would be more than enough for me). I'd second the motion to skip the club room...better to get out and about and eat better food. Whatever you do, enjoy!!
