I was wondering the advantages or disadvantages of booking online with DCL, calling Costco, booking online with AAA or seeing AAA in person? Who has the best deals when you book around 11 months in advance?

We booked just over 12 months out and got the best price (and EXCELLENT SERVICE!) with All Seasons Travel. Their site is www.allseastravel.com They list all of the cruise dates and prices right on their web site. They are highly regarded by DCL, as well.

We've only used Dreams Unlimited for our Disney cruises and have had wonderful rates and top notch service. On our other cruises we have used cruise.com and had great results as well. I'd just call around and email around and see who you can get the best deal with! Usually 11 months out most of them have pretty comparable rates. I dont know if I'd go with Disney direct but that is just a hangup I have of buying the product from main seller...

I have used AAA and had good service from Tammy, our TA there.

We got good prices, nice little goodies, etc.

Having said that, I do think next time I'd look into dreams unlimited.

My cruisemates that used DU rave about them and they seemed to get better rates.

My two cents

Hands down! By far the best service I have ever received!

For what it is worth ... we have booked all of our cruises (five) directly with Disney. The last two (and next one) we booked onboard. No regrets. We feel that we received a fair deal.

I book on board to get the onboard credits, then I transfer over to cruisetraveloutlet.com to get the best rate (a 7% rebate on my cost). Always was the best deal I could find and I've always been pleased with their fast and personal service.

We have used DCL directly on two of our trips and were really impressed with them. We have used DU for WDW land vacations and they did a great job as well. It would all boil down to $$$$.
Remember that if you book through DCL directly you can pick up the phone and get an answer from the source. If you use any TA DCL will only talk to them.
Just an observation.

I like DCL directly. Like others have said. I can just pick up the phone and talk to disney. No need to call the TA. Depending when you go, DCL may be the same price as anyone else. They were when we booked our 5/22 cruise.

I also have control issues, but that's another story.

Ohh, sister in control issues, do I ever understand!!! That's why I do all my work with DCL before I take the reservation to Bill/Tami!!
AND that's why I sold off my DVC properties - just too much to deal with having a middleman!!! I don't think I'll miss DVC at all since all we had ever used it for was cruising!!!

I looked pretty extensively through the internet before booking with Travelocity. No one could beat their rates, I was able to choose my own cabin, the documents were sent more than 1 month prior - all went smooth. I wouldn't recommend them if you need personalized service, however, because all they do is contact Disney. They had us listed for early seating all along until conveniently when the cruise was paid for - all of a suddent "late" seating appeared on an e-mail I received. I was not able to get this resolved through Travelocity and now must wait until we board to try to switch. I am supposedly on a wait list however. Otherwise, if you're looking to save $$, this was the best deal I found. We're in a Cat 6 veranda room by the way. I'm a AAA member, but generally do not use their travel services because they are higher priced than anything I could find on my own. Disney's rates are probably the highest prices I found, but I guess you pay for "direct" service with them. We plan to rebook on board, but I will have Travelocity rates with me to try to bargain with.

I booked my cruise through expedia and no regrets so far...
Got a rate of 899 pp and an upgrade to a cat 9.
I am happy and was updated fully on everything, all emails as they spoke on the phone....and docs are on their way for may 8 cruise.
I read somewhere that AAA doesn't really offer a huge bargain on the Dis cruises and the like. I never really found that they had any special deals for any of the dates available but thats just me. Trial and error i suppose.

Happy hunting!
