Who would do such mean a thing???

Hi all, I thought I'd give you all a heads up and decided to "calm" myself down before I posted anything. As most of you know I have been a DISigner here on the DIS going on three years. I love what I do and nothing (so far) will stop me from doing what I love.

So this is why I am writing. I have had a lot of problems with 4shared but lately. I guess you would say I finally have had my fill, the straw that broke the camels back as they say.

Recently I have received numerous complaints that people could not access my designs or download them once found. I realized that my settings were changing on a day to day basis and my preferences were not where I left them. I had to check every day and reset them. I sent an email/emails to 4shared tech support and have been repeatedly ignored.

Then when I was going through my files I found that someone had accessed one of them and destroyed some of my designs. Over 300 images lost. They were basically deleted and replaced with a text document written in Spanish all on April 19th. I haven't a clue. This was also reported and no response.

To add icing to the cake one of my entire folders was deleted. Obviously sent to the recycle bin and then deleted permanently. I don't understand why anyone would do something like this. Such a mean and cruel act.

I only wanted to share my story in hopes that this never happens to any of you. Keep your eyes on your files and your settings. As for me...I'm moving to Photobucket. Have a magical evening.

Oh Linda, I am so sorry this is happening. As I was telling you in a PM this seems to be the trend with 4 shared.

It is a real shame since the designers on here work so hard on these beautiful designs and NOT FOR PROFIT! Just for the love of Disney!

Oh Hon I am so sorry this happened to you.
It just makes no sense when all of your stuff is about making "Magic"
for so many families.
I know Dolly has been having a horrible time trying to straighten out her 4-shared account.
I remember when everyone kept asking me to open one ,I kept remembering stories of people losing all of there stuff on another site when it shut down--I think it was Hometown.
I use photobucket because-well it's seems easy but I am backing up some of my stuff on my own computer as you can never be too careful.

How frustrating this must be for you! I am so impressed with your passion you share with all of us! Hopefully, it was a just a major cyber goof from a poorly managed website. I can't imagine why anyone would go out of their way to destroy your amazing work.

I so sorry to hear about this awful act and just I don't understand why people can be so mean. I am glad to hear that it hasn't stopped you from doing something you love. I know I have some wonderful designs from you that are going to make my family's trip more magical and I'm super appreciate for you efforts.

Would it help if some of us sent disigns back to you that we have downloaded or you made for us? Maybe with all of us here, we could help you recreate your files. I'm going to hope that this person did this horrible thing accidently, not intentionally, if that is even possible. I don't understand these photo sharing sites, so I don't really know.

I am so so sorry to hear of the sad thing, you are so kind to do what you do for others and someone goes and destroys your work. Some people are just plain mean. I left 4shared a long time ago for different reasons. Much happier with photobucket. I have not learned to do all the beautiful things that you and others do, but love and appreciate all your hard work.

I can't even imagine what drives some people ... it never ceases to amaze me how some can be.

I am so sorry for what "they" have done. It's criminal.

Hackers need to get a REAL job and use their "talents" for a decent reason.

Hi again, thanks everyone for your kind words. I didn't want my post to be a rant which is why I waited, just a gentle vent I guess.I wish this was just a cyber goof. The only problem was my over 300 images were altered and destroyed so I believe the deleted file was just part of some malicious act by a bored, "internet troll," as my DD explained to me that some people just like messing with peoples files. She's a member of DA and has nothing but misery with it but it is the only decent art site. So she's stuck.

Sorry to hear about Dolly. 4shared was a top notch sharing site when I joined. Now if you Google it, it's not even ranked in the top 10....something happened some where along the line...just my luck. So my new home is now on Photobucket and I will go through my 4shared and remove old dated images and transfer some to PB.

That's horrible. I'm sorry you have lost some of your work and even worse that it was so malicious. Hopefully you have the key components backed up but if not I'm sure there are many that can help you build it back up.

Hi everyone, At this point I am completely disregarding my 4shared account. This only means that I am not downloading any designs to this site. My designs are now going to Photobucket. I am planning on going through 4shared and removing older images.

Please don't worry about my designs as I have everything backed up on two external hard drives. It's just that either the site or someone messed with my files and as a result many are gone. I have no clue which ones are missing by the way. I appreciate your offers to replace images but I really don't need them.

I still have not heard back from 4shared and I'm learning that I'm not alone in this situation. It seems all of us with accounts are vulnerable at this time. Thanks so much for your concerns and replies. Have a magical day.
