Frankly, there is no team I really care to see win, but of course I'll watch!
I'd like to see the Angels or the Padre's... But think the Cards are going to take it.
As a Cubs fan I am scared to death to see a Cards/White Sox WS, but think I may have to brace for it...

Is that really important with opening night of the NHL tomorrow really will people actually watch that with HOCKEY back on the ice again LOL. I don't really care for baseball it is far to boring to watch. Bring on the rink warriors for me.

Well with you being from Mass how could he root for anything but hockey he must be a Bruins fan.

Well, the 2 of you may be able to raise the NHL's ratings to a grand total of 8 people that will probably watch tomorrow...

Not likeley as I have more than 8 people in my family that will be watching LOL plus all my friends that play in the NHL whose parents will be watching. I have a feeling that ratings in many cities with NHL hockey are going ot be much higher than many people expect especially in the US. In Canada it is a given no matter what happened people are going to watch hockey we watch baseball if we need to fall asleep LOL.

Perhaps in Canada, and yes I realize that more than 8 will watch...
But I really don't know that the NHL will every full recover from the lock out...
I mean really? What league cancels an entire season due to whiny players wanting NFL pay with ratings and attendance that (In the US at least) more closely resemble the WNBA?

No one's givin' the Padres any love...
Not that they seriously have any chance.. but still.

No worse than the strike/lockout that canceled the world series in 94 I think it was when the Expo's would have won it.

But MLB had a pretty large fan base to begin with... Much larger than the NHL...
Not trying to knock hockey, it is a very impressive sport, but numbers are numbers are numbers are money.

Oh I don't doubt that especially when you are building a 50 thousand plus seat venue for a baseball game and hockey rinks are at max maybe 24 thousand seat if even that large. I can't understand how (and please help me out here) Americans can't seem to follow a black puck on white ice when they can follow a white little ball in the air when hit with a golf club?

Its pretty simple actually when you get to the core of the American phyche (sp?)... Americans aren't huge in hockey for the same reason we are not huge into Soccer.... We're not the best.

So I guess from that then Americans have to be the best to be interested well you are a close second in hockey these days and by the way staying with the theme of the thread I think that the Whitesox will win LOL. So I guess being second best isn't enough to garner interest from you folks down below us.

Please try to find a smaller brush when you go painting....

Hockey was the first organized, big sport that attracted the attention of this born and raised California girl. My shared psyche has nothing to do with my interest in sports....

Hockey is fun to watch. I remember, in HS going to a Kings game, and watching Marcel Dionne play even though his jaw was wired shut the night before. Dude still kicked some butt. I am not a bit Gretzsky fan though.
Baseball is fun to watch, when you actually go to a game with a team like the Cardinals. (Yeah, Dodgers and Angels fans and games pretty much sucked from 1980 until 1992. I didn't even care after that enough to know if they were good or not...No one gave me a reason to. :confused3 )

The place a team plays, and the players, need to share a mutual affection. Hockey did kinda ignore and shove away the fans last year...like baseball did in '94. This year hockey needs to build up some trust and credibility with the fans.
