Just wondering how many other members will be at Aulani in 19 days!:cheer2: We are taking the kids, boy 14, girls 9 and 11 months. Can't wait!!! :hourglass if anyone has any great tips please let me know!

Good Evening Darbry - unfortunately we won't be at Aulani in November but we will be there in December. Would you be able to take a photo or scan a few of the daily Iwa's and post them on Disboards? We have reservations for December 13 - 21st. Our family of 4 includes two single twenty-somethings. I am worried they might get bored with no "night life".

I hope you and your family find the Disney Magic at Aulani

Wow! Thats quite a long stay! Well for that long, I would suggest that you rely on groceries for your meals, as eating on the resort will get spendy after that many days! My wife and I love eating there, but when we are staying on points, we put the kids in Aunti's PLayhouse, and enjoy ourselves. Kids get groceries, as they are gust going to eat to fuel up for more water adventures anyways.

The Hawiian music at the Olelo room is Terrific! We visit there frequently, even when we are not staying on property! Sat nights are the best. (Look for one of Lei's tables)

The covered chairs on the beach are only $18 for half a day! Includes beach toys (Dont pack beach toys!).

My fife and I like to get a cabana on the day we check out. This gives you a relaxing home base that you can use defore you have to leave. Do this if you have a late flight. We live here, so they have to grab me by the ear and kick me out when its time :-)

Almost! We will be there Nov. 3-12. I'm curious what you have planned? We don't have much planned, just a short list of things to do if we get tired of being at the resort.

  • U.S.S. Arizona Memorial
  • "Hike" to Makapuu Lighthouse
  • The Hawaiian Railway (90 min ride on Sundays; DH LOVES trains, and this is an old-fashioned one)
  • North Shore (to find a shrimp truck and other touring around)
  • Snorkeling at Haunama Bay

We're keeping things simple for this trip because I will be 18-19 weeks pregnant. (Yes, that means no infinity hot tub for me! Boo!)

Ah, we'll in that case, I would say you need a spa day... But they are probably making all kinds of noise right there by the spa. May be worth it to walk across the street and check out the spa at the Marriott, may be quieter and more relaxing

Our vacation starts 11/11-11/19. Our two children 11&6 can hardly wait. Our plan for the week is no plan at all. We will try and hit some of the big tours in town. Hope to see your around fellow Dis Mom!!:cheer2:

I will sure try! I don't know how star struck I will be when i get there. I might just leave my mind at home! Seriously, I will try to remember. If nothing, I'm a little bit of a packrat with bringing things home so i will keep them.

I'm not sure what to expect with the 11 month old and all of the naps and such. But I do plan on going to the Arizona and the flea market on Wednesday...I love flea markets! I would like to do some hiking, we're borrowing a backpack carrier to bring along.
I've never flown with a baby before so I'm trying to figure out what to bring. We have a compact stroller, carseat and now a backpack carrier that we would like to bring. Not sure if that's insane or not :confused3

I didn't know anything about the Hawaiian Railway...I might have to look into that. We plan on looking for a shrimp truck too and those desserts everyone keeps talking about. I mentioned on the other thread that we are going to the flea market on Wednesday. Have a great vacation!!

Thanks for the great advice!

Just an FYI, there is a surfing competition going on starting November 12th called the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. We've never been into surfing, but I think that it's a cool opportunity to watch something we'd never be able to see in Ohio!!

Yah, from Ohio, I can see why you would like to go. Be warned, Traffic is mental and parking out there even more so! Remember .. Our Hawaii sun is strong, be prepared for that

How exciting! We just came home a couple of weeks ago... and still having withdrawal symptoms! For the kids (except for the toddler though) -- if they are comfortable in the water - they'll enjoy snorkeling in the Reef. It's the only one of its kind in the islands - and it's right there in Aulani. If you do decide to go snorkeling -- get there and be ready to get in the water by around 1:15pm... they do fish feeding at 1:30 and it is a beautiful frenzy of colorful fish that come out! You get a discount if you are a DVC member... i think we paid $15 for the day. Bring an underwater camera and take a picture of the menehune under the water :-).

Just wanted to wish you a happy safe flight. Hopefully we will run into each other!!:beach:

DW and I are here until the 14th. In fact, I'm writing this in a lounger by the pool.

As far as shrimp trucks, we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center yesterday and for dinner drove another 10 minutes up the highway to a place called Giovanni's. $13 for a dozen of the yummiest shrimp we've ever had and two scoops of rice on the side. Highly recommend!

Regards,
...Mike

Almost time to go!!!! Hope to see you Jillianjewels! Also thanks for the heads up ottowacruiser! Can't wait to be the one to say I'm the one laying in the lounger!!!
