We are thinking of this time frame for next year. How was it? How way December 30 and or 31st? Did you pay a higher cost per room for the 30th, 31st andf 1st and less after? Or did you pay a higher rate for the duration of the stay. Did you find that the crowds were unbearable before December 2nd and comparing that to Jan 2 and after how much did they go down?

We went this year from Jan 2 to 7 and found the crowds to be bigger than we thought. However, we still had a great time. We were thinking of extending it for next year and needed to hear from our experts :teeth:

Thanks for the help :thumbsup2

Dec 30, 31 and Jan 1 are the premium season and the room rates are the highest. After that the room rates are value season and the lowest. Check the disney site or Deb's site allearsnet.com as they will have the exact breakdown on the different seasons for room rates. You should consider a split stay so that you can get the lower room rate when the season changes.

Dec 30-Jan 1 and maybe the 2nd is the busiest time at Disney, I was there on NYE and MK closed at somewhere between 10 and 11am, EPCOT was very busy, the popular attractions had wait times anywhere between 60-180 minutes but the Wonders of Life pavillion was open and had no waits for Body Wars, The Making of Me and Crainum Command. This was a great time to see the street shows and other entertainment and Illuminations was shown twice that night.

You will get to see and do much more after the 1st, most likely you will walk on to most attractions. We did MK on Jan 6th (after 6pm) and only Fast passed Space Mountain and was able to walk on to everything else, rode Splash and Big Thunder 3 times in a row without getting off.

That weekend in January is marathon weekend, crowds are a liitle bigger. Not enough to discount this weekend, however :)

I was wondering the same thing. I'm thinking of going right around NYE but not trying to do anything in the parks that day (Dec 31)...I typically just go to bed early on NYE anyway! That way I'll be rested up and ready to roll early Jan 1, right?

I think that if you plan to do more non-park stuff you might be okay...?
