Has anyone ever been called up to "who wants to be a mousekteer" and answered correctly but were told that the answer was wrong???

Yes that is what happened to my friend's 10 year old dd. She was the 1st one on stage and zoomed through all the questions until the $175 question with all life lines available. The question was:

What was lyricist Tim Rice's first work with the Walt Disney Company?

A) Oliver and Company
B) Aladdin
C) Lion King
D) Can't remember sorry

she thought it was Lion King but asked the panel anyway and they agreed it was Lion King, so she answered Lion King but was told that was wrong and sent off the stage with $80 in onboard credit( though she was at the $175 level you get dropped down to the next safety level) with 2 lifelines left.(2 questions away from a free cruise)

Later we researched it on the internet because we are HUGE Tim Rice fans as well as HUGE DISNEY Fans we knew the answer was right. We then verified it online and contacted guest services who sent the request to Scott the Assist cruise director. Scott then verified it with onshore research and called to thank them for bringing it to Disney's attention and that the answer was CORRECT and that the question will be reworded in the future (do they use the same questions????)

That was it. No giving them the $175 stateroom credit which she would have had for answer the question correctly not to mention the next 2 levels and the fact she still had 2 life lines left.

Okay so what do you think??? We are still on board and wonder what we should do??

She is only 10 years old and she is very disappointed with Disney right now. We hope they will do the right thing.
We'll let you know

Think of what would Walt do then insist, insist, insist....

thanks we do have a call into scott from this morning but amazingly he has not called back.

I agree DEFINATELY say something while onboard....talk to a manager if you have to. Make sure you also note who you talked with and when. If you don't receive an acceptable resoulation onboard, make sure you include the info above in a letter of complaint to Disney....

This was Disney's error, they should make it right.....

Good Luck!

That really is disappointing! Even if they cannot give her the $175 credit, they should at least make it up in some other non-monetary way....maybe upgrade her to a roy's room! just a thought!

Actually, the answer to that question was "Aladdin," which was released two years prior to "The Lion King." Tim Rice wrote the lyrics to the songs that were written after original lyricist, Howard Ashman's death. In fact, he wrote the lyrics for "A Whole New World," the hit song from "Aladdin." I'm not sure why Disney did not realize that their answer was in fact the correct one.

What I read, is that Tim Rice was already working on the Lion King ( then called King of the Jungle) when he was asked to finish up on Aladdin.

Let us know how this all turns out.

I would really push the issue....write a letter explaining the situation to DCL management......Dont leave any of the details out....maybe they'll hook you up....

Interesting. Even if I had known that information, I'm pretty sure I would have still gone with "Aladdin," since that was released first. I'm not sure that the issue would be worth pushing over this kind of technicality, though...do you?

The question was what was his 1st work with the walt disney company? He 1st WORKED on the Lion King and was called into finish Aladdin when one of the writers died. Technically and admittedly the answer DD gave was correct. As in Scott the asst CRuise director admitted that the answer was right for the way the question was worded. Yes Aladdin was released 1st but that was not his FIRST work for the WDW. Okay that was just to clarify. No progress yet. But will keep you all posted.

btw it is 68 degrees and cloudy on Cast Away Cay

Hi,

Do you have any new updates?

I hope all wworks out OK!

Dying to know how this works out for you. :)

I am going on a cruise in May. My D2 is 11. How do I get her picked for the show? She is a Disney trivia kind of a gal!

Contestants are picked randomly according to a seat number/row number spit out by a computer.

It's done randomly.

A computer picks a row and seat # and the person sitting in it (or closest to it) gets to go up. A child that's picked must bring an adult with them onstage.

That would be great if my lttle one is picked but I would be worried if I had to answer questions. I would never know the the answer about Mr. Rice. Has anyone ever witnessed someone winnig the cruise? princess:

Someone once posted a theory about picking the row with the least amount of people in it and then being closest to the aisle as the computers picks a row it will then pick all the seats in that row until a person is found sitting in it. Not sure if this works or not,b ut worth a shot.

I will have to remember that tip! Thanks... Do you know if this game is only played on the 7day? They didnt have this game on the 4day cruise I went on last year.
