I made it to the hot seat last week. I didn't realize that once you hit the first plateau, you could keep your pins and hat so I basically choked after the 8th question. (I really wanted that hat!) My host did not specifically state that the pins and hat were mine to keep. The next show I attended did state that by the way. Anyway, it was lots of fun and a little scary. You can only get in the hot seat once every 60 days or so and you have to sign some paperwork at the end. Push those buttons quickly!

I think it's every 30 days. I made the hot seat in December, missed the 250,000 point question. After I missed they took me back to the little office to fill out some paperwork and give me my pins, hat, and polo shirt. They kept telling me I did so well and they thought I was going to win the cruise. At that time they had had 99 people win the cruise and were waiting for the 100th person, I think maybe they were planning something special for that person.

It was the first show of the day and I got in by winning the fastest finger question. I was kind of nervous when I first got down there, but after the first couple of questions I wasn't nervous at all. The way the lighting is you don't really see the audience while you're answering questions anyway.

Stories from anyone else who made the hot seat?

When we were there over Springbreak a lady made it to the hot seat and got all the way to the last question. She didn't know who the youngest president was. I knew it and tried so hard to send her a mental message. She didn't get it though and didn't get the cruise. The youngest president is not Kennedy as most people think. It was Teddy Roosevelt.

Just in case anyone gets a similar question in the future ...

Kennedy was the youngest man ever ELECTED president. TR was younger than Kennedy was when he became president; he was VP when McKinley was assassinated.

I made it to the hot seat during our May 2001 trip and I blew my chance. I am such a trivia buff and all of the times people would miss questions that I knew (including my DH who made the hot seat twice) I just knew I could do better. I finally get my chance and I miss the 1000 point question regarding how many innings are in a game of softball. I even played softball for 2 seasons as a kid and I missed the dumb question by second guessing myself. I was so embarrassed and mad at myself.

My husband made it into the hotseat in April 2001! Just wore the polo shirt yesterday. He had loads of fun and won some nice things. Made it all the way to the 500,000 question and missed though he used Phone a Stranger. The most amazing thing was the number of people that recognized him the rest of the day.
