Does anyone know when WWTBAM will close? I never particularly cared for it, so I'm excited that the new Toy Story ride is going in that space instead.

Now if they'd just do something about Sounds Dangerous...

Can anyone explain to me what Sound Dangerous actually is while on the issue. Also the Great Movie Ride at MGM? I was looking at the Map and noticed the only real attractions MGM offers is Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster, as well as the night show. I am starting to doubt even going to MGM and just hitting Magic Kingdom for a second time during that week.

WWTBAM was one of our favorites :sad2: Hope it will still be there when we go!!

I hadn't heard this about WWTBAM and didn't know anything about a Toy Story ride. Do you have anymore info on this new attraction?

I read about it somewhere but can't remember where-maybe someone will help

If what you're after is rides, rides, rides, going to MK for a second time might be the thing to do.

MGM is supposed to be a movie studio with all things associated. We enjoy the GMR, Indiana Jones Stunt show, Lights, Motorcars, action (or whatever it's called) and the other shows. We also enjoy RNRC and ToT (our favorite ride in all WDW). Different strokes for different folks. That's what makes WDW such a great place, plenty to do whatever you enjoy.

Excuse me, but I did not say I was in it just for rides, rides, rides, and rides. I have no idea why you jumped to such conclusions. I been to MGM Studios last summer for a half-day adventure and I know what it does and does not have to offer. I was just asking for alittle insight as to what the other attractions were not to get jumped at for asking a minor question. Jeez, are not all Disney fans happy this morning? :confused3

Anyway, to add to my point - is there anyone who can please explain to me what the Great Movie Ride is and what Sound Dangerous is all about? Those are two that I missed on my last adveture.

Besides, I just came back from the Magic Kingdom May 28th, 2006. This next trip is just for the other parks - I am not sure if I want to go back to the Magic Kingdom so soon. :goodvibes

Now, lets all just have a happy day! :grouphug:

Sounds Dangerous is an attraction with Drew Carey dealing with sound effects. Basically, it starts with a short film. In the story, Drew swallows a minimicrophone (or something). The whole theater goes pitch black, and the idea is that you use only your hearing to understand what's going on in the rest of the story. If your kids are afraid of the dark in any way, you're probably better off skipping this attraction. You really can't see your hand in front of your face in there! On the other hand, it's dark and cool, so it's an excellent 20 minute nap! (Please correct me if I'm wrong on this, btw)

The Great Movie ride is a show ride that takes you through the different scenes in movies. You ride through Alien, Casablanca, Wizard of Oz, etc. There's also a bit of a live show -- you either get a Western or a Gangster scene, depending on which car you're in. Even the queue is great -- they show old movie trailers to keep you entertained.

Other attractions are Muppets 3-D (sort of like ITTTBAB or HISTA) but without the effects in your seat (ie, it's a 3d movie with other stuff, but no motion). Also, half of the attractions at MGM are shows, which are fantastic -- Indiana Jones Stunt Show, Beauty and the Beast, and Voyage of the Little Mermaid are all must-dos for me. You have to get into the mindset that not everything's a ride -- in my mind, some of these shows are better than the best ride!

Oh no! Tell me it isn't so?! When is the last day for WWTBAMPI!?

I might have to make an impromptu trip. Seriously, besides TOT, WWTBAMPI is the only good thing about MGM (for me).

Yikes....WWTBAM is our family favorite. We hit MGM, go to WWTBAM and then Sci Fi the first day! I didn't even realize they were going to close it and make another attraction!

It's to bad--We love Who Want's to be a Millionaire Play-It. It's odd because we go in off season and it is usually pretty full.

This is the 1st I've heard about it closing as well. I think it may just be rumors. They announced some new attractions along with Disney's Million Wishes promotion, and there wasn't anything about a new Toy Story ride. If they do close WWTBAM, it would probably not be for some time

The new Toy Story ride, working title "Midway Mania," is coming to DCA in the coming years. It might also come to MGM. This is what I found on a DL board.

"The latest plan for the attraction is to make it an interactive ride where guests fire a gun at objects that pop up on screens as the vehicle moves through the attraction. It is more like a cross between Buzz, Roger Rabbit, and the Vitural Pirates at DisneyQuest.

And the characters are all themed around Toy Story, but minus Buzz himself. That was the latest I know from a few months back."

I hope this info helps. I have a friend who saw the plans for the DL project and said that it looked very cool.

My understanding is that the Toy Story thing is supposed to be by Al's Toy Barn, whcih is not near WWTBAM. I hadn't heard anything about it closing.

I hadn't heard anything about this and can't seem to find anything. Anybody know where there's any info?

It's all over some other WDW enthusiast forums. For some reason, the link to the one in particular I'm speaking of isn't allowed here. Trust me, it's coming, and millionaire is going.

I guess if you want to just get in out of the heat it may be worth it, but last November when my wife and son was there it was nice and we did not need to escape from the heat. To me it was a waste of time to go see Drew Carrey, I know he is funny but this really did not tickle my fancy.

The Great Movie ride was good and it was relaxing to sit and see the things about past movies and themes.

By your own words, you said the only real attractions MGM offers is Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster . I really think you should give all the attractions a fair shake. You might be surprised what appeals to you!

So if Millionaire is going, do you know when it is going?
