Who to use for Iphone service?

We did go to Verizon and their plan would increase $37/month to move to Iphones (data plan has 500 mb which is all they would likely need). Iphone 5s is $99 at Verizon, 5c is $49.

My brother suggested they might want to wait for a 6 because email would be easier to read but my dad could read my email on my 4 with no problem. Plus if they get them this week I can show them how to use them. Thank goodness my mom knows how to use an Ipad.

That sounds like a good deal. I need to switch my son to Verizon now that his AT&T contract is up. He'd want a newer phone than mine so he needs to get on a contract again. He's paying almost $100 a month for his AT&T plan but his does have 4 g of data (he is on his constantly and our wifi isn't that great). AT&T coverage is still so bad, IMO.

Just as an added note, my 71 yr old dad is in love with his iphone.

They got a laptop a few years ago, but he never really took to it. So I was surprised he likes the iphone so much.

He used to carry a notepad/calculator booklet in his shirt pocket. Those are gone now, and his 4s is the same size.

He carries a pen with a stylus on the tip. So he uses that instead of his large fingertips.

He also likes that he can put the phone on a speaker dock and hear it louder/more clearly than just putting a phone on speaker (the dock amplifies it more)

They RV full time so are never "home". But he gets to read the hometown paper on his phone. And his favorite radio station has a show he likes on Sunday mornings. So 1000 miles away he can listen to that too.

Just wanted to share that seniors can find a lot of use in an iphone. It isn't wasted on them just because they're "old"

Thanks for sharing that. I will definitely need to show my dad the calculator app.

My dad is perfectly capable of using technology. He programmed computers in the 60s. He just needs to be patient. Luckily my mom will figure the Iphone out easily since she's an ipad user and hopefully she can help him after I leave. He did send his first text yesterday. So we're doing okay.

On a side note I'm trying very hard to explain that since he has high speed internet, he shouldn't be paying for AOL.

They went with Verizon. $110 / month for 500 mb of share data which should be plenty for them. $79 for IPhone 5s at Walmart.

We did learn that Straight talk wouldn't work well up here. I have it and love it but I can barely send a text in Northern Michigan.

How about the Verizon prepaid plan? $45 per line (with 1 GB of data, if you pay with CC on file). Even with the cost of paying for the cellphone, it is cheaper than their regular plan.

Honestly, at US Cellular it was FREE--I had a 4 on straight talk & was good with it. Had to move to Verizon as USCell has horrid service in Fort Worth where DS goes to school. Verizon is great, but for the savings Straight Talk was find (I got a used iPhone 4 from cowboom that had been with Verizon or At&T to activate) I stupidly paid to get the 5 but honestly the difference is not worth really any $....
