I have a question for Disney, but I'm not sure who to email.

I have terrible allergies, but the main one is artificial fragrance (my skin reacts kind of like it's poison ivy). I know I'm not allergic to the detergent they use at the resorts, but I'm wondering if it's the same as they use on the cruise.

I get hives from heavily-fragranced detergents and fabric softeners. I've never had an issue at the Disney Resorts or on the Disney Cruise line. (I did, however, have to do laundry twice on Norwegian Fjord cruise, so I just washed once with detergent and once without, and didn't have any problems. I wasn't hauling detergent from Florida to Copenhagen, lol). But if you're concerned, I'd definitely email shoreside concierge (if you're staying at that level) or email DCL (https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/help/email/). I just got back from a quick 3-night Bahamian cruise, and I had no problems from the sheets, blankets, or towels (room, pool, or Castaway Cay) used. :)

Edit: I can also confirm they sell Benadryl in the shops, just in case. ;) Hopefully you won't need it!

I don't have an answer to your specific question BUT my family was having allergy issues during our recent Disney Wonder cruise, and guest services was able to change our pillow type and put an air purifier in our room. So, those are probably options for you if needed!

Those are some great options I didn't know about. But for me, if I start having an allergic reaction it won't help. If any fragrance is used in the detergent it becomes embedded in the fibers (the sad reason I can't shop for clothes secondhand). My skin will go through this whole disgusting process which includes weeping. :crazy2:

After over 20 years with this allergy I just tried Disney's linens. It is so nice to find out that I don't need to bring my own pillows, sheets, and towels! Though I must admit I still bring my own pillows, but for entirely different reasons.

I would also call not just email. They will do everything they can to make sure your trip is comfortable and accommodating to whatever allergies you have. Just over communicate it. Your room may need a deep clean before you get in there to make sure there isn't anything lingering from previous guest on the chairs etc that could cause a problem for you.
You can bring benadryl with you to cut costs as it's not really "cheap" on the ship. I always bring extra just in case meds. Band aids and such they have at guest services but meds, they either sell you or send you to the ships doctor.
I'd also make sure you have trip insurance in case you need to go to the ships doctor so it's covered. It can be a very expensive trip.

You may want to contact specialservices@disneycruise.com. That's where we note our allergies and special requests. Usually get an e-mail response back pretty quickly. If your allergy to artificial fragrances extends to air fresheners, I would also have them make a note to housekeeping. We have had the occasional room host who like to use these, sometimes to excess.

Thank you for the reminder on the air fresheners! Very bad for my skin. I am sure to bring benadryl and my prescription ointment.

My husband teases me about needing a bubble, but I really do wish I could have a giant hamster ball!
