we are planning a hawaii trip next year and I am planning to add three nights at aulani at the end…I am wanting to book it soon but just wondering where people book through? Is it best to go through aulani themselves or rent points or somewhere else??? any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Renting points will most likely be cheaper than paying directly. A friend just saved over $1000 for her spring trip. That's not to say that the reservation you want will be available through the rental market. We like dvcrequest.com.

I think it depends what time of year you're going. We are going in March and booked a 1-bedroom villa through our travel agent (direct from Aulani, not renting DVC points). Because of the 30% off special at that time, our room costs less than the same room would be if we rented points at $13+ per point, even when we factor in the cost for parking. And with booking directly through Aulani, we are getting free breakfast for everyone in our room.

For us, the cheapest was booking through Costco.

4th night free, Island view for the price of a standard view, $100 per night resort credit and one character buffet for everyone in our party. A rental car was also included for the 5 days 4 nights we are at Aulani, but we will be on the island for 7 nights after we leave Aulani and it was cheaper to get one rental car for the whole trip, then just the last 8 days.

Before that deal came out I was looking at renting points. We ended up paying the exact amount the points would have been but we got the resort credit, the character breakfast and if we would have needed it a rental car.

So definitely take the time to price out your dates!

But are you getting hotel rooms or DVC rooms?

I'm fascinated by all the discounts that we don't get as DVC owners (or with a CM discount), but I think it still probably pencils out better for us on a per night basis. A free rental car would sure be nice. :rotfl2:

Our reservation was for a 1 bedroom villa.
