Who shouldn't do the Halloween party cruise?

We are 2 older adults and not character people. Is that reason enough to just do the regular cruise? Ty.

Like any vacation - pick your cruise based on calendar, budget, itinerary.

I am not such a fan of the Halloween decorations as I am of the plain ship, as built, or Christmas decor.

Do you question even picking Disney? There are plenty of excellent options for cruising.

Just didn't know if there were enough other things missed out by not doing the Halloween one.
Off topic....What shouldn't be missed if anything with the one stop at the Bahamas?

The one stop being Nassau or a Disney beach (Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay)?

If Nassau, a lot of guests stay on the ship. I haven’t found that “don’t miss” activity there. We have been to the Atlantis resort for their water park. We went to an off-island for dolphins (it also has a beach). We’ve walked around downtown.

In the last 2 years, they razed and rebuilt the port area. Next time I’m there, I will get off the ship to see it. But I wouldn’t go on a cruise for that. Or for Nassau.

For the Disney beaches, they are the draw. Castaway Cay is a private island. It has two beach areas: one allows children, the other is for 18+.

Lookout Cay is a new Disney beach development opened this year. It is located at the Southernmost point of Eleuthera, at Lighthouse Point.

A cruise to both these beach destinations should be very popular. It makes it a nice beach vacation.

I’ll give the highlighted question an answer to what I think you are asking.

There are not so many special events for any holiday theme sailing - Halloween or Christmas seasons. It is mostly decor. It’s not like going to one of the special parties at the parks.

The cruises are fairly standardized across the year. Star Wars or Pixar cruises may have special touches or events. A cruise in May is not so different from one in the Fall, so far as activities are concerned.

We’ve done a couple Halloween themed cruises and haven’t really done any of the holiday themed events. We definitely felt like there was still plenty to do!

We are two adults that did a HOTHS cruise on the Wish last year. It fit our budget and timing, otherwise I wouldn't have picked that cruise just for the theming. It was lovely, but not enough for me to seek it out specifically.

Don't worry about Halloween theming. It can be easily overlooked and you can just ignore it while enjoying the ship.

If a HOTHS is an option for you due to whatever reasons, I wouldn’t avoid it due to the theming. That’s my simple answer. It doesn’t take away from any experience you would have on a non themed cruise. If anything, there would merely be decorations, perhaps a theme related show in the atrium but it does not take away from the experience. We have sailed both and I do find the theme enjoyable as it gives you more to look at. Also, you will perhaps an added dress up opportunity for those on board but I would say avoid it only if Halloween isn’t your thing. Would I avoid it? No. So if it came down to costs (saves some $ due to time of year) and accommodating your ability to cruise, there would be no reason to avoid it. Hope that helps. Again, the core boat, dinners, shows, etc. wont’ change, just added decor with perhaps an added event (for example, a story time around the base of a large tree that they lit up with characters showing up - it was a one night thing, maybe 20 to 30 minutes long? don’t recall). We’ve done a few and none have ever been the same. Hope that helps a bit.

Me and my wife are older cruisers and we just got off a Halloween cruise on Friday. We did not choose it for the theme. The decor was not over done. The Halloween theme was not over the top. We are not big Halloween people and we really enjoyed ourselves.

We just did a HOTHS sailing on the Magic. We didn't do any of the Halloween activities and had a blast! You will see some decorations up around the ship, but they're not obtrusive. The Pumpkin Tree in the atrium is pretty cool-even if you're not a big Halloween person (and I'm not) it's well done and can be appreciated for its artistry.

Pick the itinerary/price/ship that you want, and don't worry so much about the theming.

We don't have any problem with Halloween decor at all...we were at mnsshp in Sept! Just didn't know if the character meet and greet and dress up type.stuff was a big part of the cruise. Thanks to all who responded!!!!!

We have done two of them... We could care in the least about Halloween and still enjoy ourselves. I think they do it to try to give you something "extra" in the slower season...

My wife and I have done several Halloween cruises and we have no children.
She got dressed up for the party I did not.
It was nice seeing the ship decorated and everyone in costume on the night of the Halloween party.
We had just as good of a time on this cruise as any other Disney cruise we have been on.

I would just pick the cruise with the best price and best itinerary. If that happens to be a Halloween cruise then so be it. I don't care for Halloween, but September cruises have always been the cheapest so I just roll with it.

I ended up with a Halloween on the High Seas cruise, I like Halloween decor so for me it was a bonus.

I concur - go if it works for you! 2 adults here (well one and me... ) and it was fun to see all the costumes and decorating. While we didn't dress up it didn't deter from the experience as most did not. Its basically an extension of pirate night think of those who dress and those that dont.. basically the same experience.
