Who remembers Y2K?

Best place to be if anything really happened. Stayed at CS and for the count down we were at MGM. I was so green I didn't realize that people drank at Disney. Never saw so many drunks in one place! The next day was wonderful. Nobody was at the parks. Loved it!
Thanks for the memory.

I was at work most of the evening. I was a programmer for banking software. We actually finished all the Y2K program modifications by the end of 1998.

By 10pm several of our smaller banks had finished their year end updates and set their server date ahead to 2000 to prove to the regulators that they would open fine the next day -- and they went home. It become painfully obvious that their was no reason to have 20 + programmers sitting there at the offices with absolutely nothing to do. We drew straws and I got to gome home.

By midnight I was standing out on the street with DH and the kidlets, watching fireworks.

Many of the banks opened for a couple of hours on Jan 1st just to prove to their customers that their money was safe.

Good friend of ours works for the power grid folks up here routing power around the northeast. He said they did not expect anything to happen that night. But, with all the media frenzy and presure from politicians, the compay made everyone work that night. He said they had an office party and watched TV there. Nothing happened.::MickeyMo

And our old computer we had at the time just kept computing here.

I spent it with my now husband at my parents house watching tv shows. We had gone downtown to a big party that was a BIG FLOP. WE saw a bride and groom waitng to get married at MN.

I was worried... but not about Y2K. I was getting married the next day. I never had any fears over Y2K. People kept telling me I was crazy to plan a wedding for the next day. What if there was no power? What if there is mass hysteria? My response was "as long as my fiance and the minister show up, then I can get married!!"

We had a party at one of my bridesmaids houses on NYE and then went to sleep at my mom's house about 2am. Got up watched the parade and then got ready for my 6pm wedding. It was the best New Years ever!!

I was at one of the most HILARIOUS Ney Year's parties EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My maw-maw had this huge party and it was sooooooooooooo fun!! We had people acting out funny things, old people dancing, ALL SORTS of stuff!!!!!!! AND at midnight, we shot a real cannon!!!!!!!! The neighbors, who were asleep, probably thought the world was ending!!!!!!!!!! It was sooooooo much fun!!!!!!!!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

My grandmother DID fill up her huge bathtub with water though... :p ;) :teeth:
