I have two pugs, the loves of my life. Pugs are very difficult to train due to their stubborness. I'm not sure if this is your family's first pug, if it is read everything you can get your hands on, so you may want to get Pugs for Dummies (petsmart and Petco both carry it) . They are high maintenance. The folds on their face need to be kept clean, baby wipes are great for that. Nylabones (much healthier than rawhides, which my vet says not to use) the petite size for chewing. Speaking of chewing get the Bitter apple spray, it stops them from chewing furniture.
Plush toys
crate, great for housetraining
lining for the crate so they are comfortable
water bottle to hook on to crate
use a harness not a collar for pugs, a collar can casue a collapsed trachea and due to the shape of their head and neck and easily slip out of a collar
Use ceramic or metal bowls, pugs can get acne and the plastic bowls do not help that
I'm sure there are other things, I'll try and remember and post more later.
