But I'm a little clueless about the dashboard stuff. I looked at it but I'm a little afraid of downloading things. Is this something I should do?

Dashboard is a Tiger only feature. You download widgets from the Apple site for free and they can range from a notepad to a satellite telemetry data viewer.

Personally, I like the language translator best - after that it's a tie between pacman and the weather forecaster

Well, I've been a Mac man since the old plus. But, I have not upgraded to OS X because I am not sure what programs I have will not work correctly. You know, I finally got tired of upgrading every 6 months or year. The trouble with OS 9.2 is that only old versions of browsers will work with it and so many websites refuse access or do not work correctly.

my boyfriend wrote 3 of the widgets that are on the apple site, he actually just made the top 50 list, as well as is the featured widget on the osx downloads page! i'm so proud of him! haha.
