Personally, I'm underwhelmed. It seems to me that two things are at work here:
  1. Somebody was trying a bit too hard to be "creative"
  2. That somebody is very high in the organization and nobody had the guts to tell them this was a bad choice.

Of course, maybe its just me. That's why the poll here. Tell us what you think about the new name for the Disney Dining Experience.

The name is just plain stupid. It says nothing about the program. At least DDE inferred it was a dining plan. Since when has WDW been referred to "wonderland"? To me, there is no connection of Tables to a dining plan or Wonderland to WDW.

I am not a fan of the name at all. Really dislike it.

I didn't vote in the poll, I do think that a new name may have been in order. DDE, DDP, DxDDP, all off the acronyms were pretty similar and DDE is completely different from DDP. I do see the point of confusion for some with the old name. But I also don't have a new name for it of how I'd do better. So even though I didn't vote in the poll, I wanted to publicly voice my dislike of the name. The new name makes me

Tables in Wonderland is the new name for the Disney Dining Experience (DDE)

This is the 20% off food and beverage at most TS locations and a select number of CS locations throughout the resorts and parks at WDW. You can purchase it if you are an AP holder or a FL resident.

BTW--I think the new name is lame and didn't really see a problem with it. If it was too close to DDP or DxDDP that is only because of the acronyms that we have given it--these are not official Disney acronyms. I'm sure if htere was a real need for the change a better name could have been found!

Thanks for filling me in, I was better off not knowing, to me that is like insulting to adults because lets face it we get together our families trip the kids don't plan dinners. imagine calling up saying you want to make a table in woderland reservation, who thought of that brite idea, wasn't walt that's for sure:confused:

don't like it - what was the matter with the old name??

"early entry" became "extra magic hours"

"people mover" became "TTA"

now "disney dining experience" will become "tables in wonderland"

what's next???

(i can only imagine...)

I voted and think it is a stupid name. :scared: I also think someone didn't have anything better to do, but "Tables".... that's just too goofy for me to even say it. I'm still calling it DDE.

I too will refer it to DDE card......when we go and pay for our cs's or our sit down restaurant bills.....the card has to be presented anyways....so to me it was a waste of someones brain power......How about just plain ol' discount for AP people.......or our 20 % off card.......but this one takes the cake......"tables in Wonderful".......geesh:confused3

I don't like the new name and I don't understand how it remotely relates to anything Disney.

It would have been a cute name for an Alice in Wonderland / Mad Hatter Tea type of event, but as a name for a property-wide dining discount program I feel like I'm missing a link in the logic chain.

I don't get the name at all. There was nothing wrong with the old name, but if they were going to change it, i think they could have thought of something better.

On another board, we've taken to calling it "BOB"---the "Break on Booze" card.

Technically, Tables in Wonderland isn't a dining plan. It's a discount program. That may be one of the reasons it was renamed, to keep it from getting lumped in with the dining plan.

When you are asked if you are on a dining plan, you do not need to bring up TIW. The only time you'd need to mention it before you pay your check is if you are making a reservation for a prepaid meal (CRT or a dinner show). You'd need to mention it then so you can get back the discounted amount from your prepayment.

There was some concern at the beginning of the year with posters worrying that if they declared at the beginning of the meal that they were using DDE/TIW, service would be affected because of the automatic tip. If that is a concern, don't mention TIA before you pay the check.

I don't understand "Tables in Wonderland" any more than I understand "Cities in Wonderland". It's already a land, a place, a world -- Disney World.

Is Wonderland a place in Disney World? Is Disney World a place in Wonderland?

Isn't everything topsy-turvy and upside down in Wonderland? It's been so long since I read the Alice stories I don't recall.

I like "BOB". From now on, it's my "BOB" card!

Tables in Wonderland is a stupid name. However, if they guaranteed you could get a table with the card, then it would work! :rotfl: No availability at Le Cellier? No problem......just present your TIW card for immediate seating!!:rotfl:

Hehehe... that would be a wonder-land!!!:lmao:

I normally just include it with my KTTW card when I pay, but I do vaguely recall that the fine print says that you are supposed to let your server know before that. The memory is hazy, though.
