Who likes Leave a Legacy?

Do you like the Leave a Legacy area of Epcot?

No I prefered the tiles at MK! These things are really naff and only last until 2010 then are being pulled down.

Where did you get the info that the leave a legacy will be gone in 2010? I for one would be happy if they got rid of Leave a Legacy and the hand over Spaceship Earth. I do not think either one adds to the atmosphere and actually takes away from the original futuristic theme of what is supposed to be the main attraction in Future World.

Disney has a track record of making temporary things permanent... Michey's Birthdayland turned into Mickey's Toon Town Fair... Epcot Wand was supposed to only be for the year 2000 celebration. Mickey's Hat in MGM was orinally only supposed to be there for Walt's 100 Birthday celebration.

Thank god the Birthday Cake castle was only around for 1 year... I like changes to Disney World, just not when they are tacky or take away from the atmosphere or cheapen the park.

I love the hand over Spaceship Earth. It provided much-needed fantasy to an otherwise stark, antiseptic building.

Leave a Legacy doesn't impress me. However, it doesn't really affect very much, and is easily ignored.

I actually like it...and I think the design is perfect for a place like Epcot...especially being in the front since Future World is in the front.

I really wish they would do something like this at each park. They have the bricks at MK and LAL with Epcot...maybe they should do mini-stars for MGM and something like leaves or whatnot for AK.

I like them In fact, I want to put my 2 grandsons up when we go next month. My son and his fiancee had theirs done in March 2005.. Not a bad price and it lets you believe that you left a little bit of yourself in the "world"!

I kind of like them a little bit. On our honeymoon we had some option with our package that included a tile. They send you two prints of your tile on a 5X7 car, which I have framed in my living room and dh has on his desk at work. It makes me think there's' always a little bit of us at our favorite park.

I like it. My DS & I have our pix on a tile & it makes me very happy. It was our first Mom & Son trip to WDW alone & we have great memories from it. We love going now & seeing the difference between the kid in that picture & the man he is now.

Yeah, I like the bricks better, but since you can't get those anymore, the tiles will have to do for us.

I like it. Granted, they do look like memorials and they could have picked a less obtrusive spot, and could have used a different material, but my DGS and I are happy to know that the Legacy we got as a freebie a few years ago is guaranteed to be there until he is 26. It was fun to go back twice to see our mugs plastered on stone and knowing when we have to go back home, part of us is still there in Epcot. They said they guarantee it 20 years when we signed up. So yeah, we get a kick out of it.

We love it! And I'd bet that all the people who say they DON'T like it have never put up the money to have THEIR faces etched on a tile! Like others said, DH, I, and our kids are there at WDW ALL THE TIME.

We don't like it, but try to ignore it as best we can. Because we almost always have the opportunity to use the International Gateway, we really only head there when we arrive by the monorail or see the display during the Flower and Garden Festival. They are ugly and look like a graveyard. In my opinion, they should be tucked away in some little building where they won't be an eye sore.

We love Leave a Legacy......we did one for DH's father who passed away....we couldn't say "In Memory of.." so we used "Wish you were here"......this was my gift to DH on our anniversary trip....Disney was his place with his dad....and now it's our place....the 3 of us....it always seems like his dad is with us when we are at Disney!

Well, you're right - because we hate it, their ugly and have a feeling or morbidity. For us it's not a cost issue in the slightest.

I prefer the brick around the world.

No, no...I didn't mean to imply that it was a cost issue. I only meant that if YOU had your face on a tile there, you would probably like it. We missed out on the opportunity to have a brick with our names on it, so opted to do this so that a part of us would always be in the place we love.

I don't really even have an opinion of what the whole thing looks like as a unit....I just love the idea of my (and my family's) faces always being there. Every time we go, we find our pictures.

OK so I did a typo there! 2020 was what I meant. They told me when I signed up in 2004 that it would be on there until this year (they never said 20 years to me just that they would be there until then). Don't know what they are doing with the area then,

We like it, but mostly because we're a part of it!

I love it - of course the fact that my kids, inlaws, cousins, good friends all have tiles that we did when we were all there together for the Turn of the Century probably helps in my favorable opinion.

I think it is cool that my DS and his sister can go back with maybe their kids and show them their tiles as well as those of several family members.
