Who knows where Fidelio is?

We had the priviledge of seeing Greg and Fidelio during a late show on one of the first nights on the Magic last week. They had the audience singing along with Sweet Caroline, with the guys singing Bah, Bah, Bah, and the ladies singing So good, so good, so good. They encouraged the ladies to sing in the style of the Herbal Essence commercials or in the scene from When Harry met Sally. One gal did an extremely good job, so they called her on stage to sing in the microphone. She obliged and put even more emphasis on it. Greg and Fidelio needed to stop the show for a few minutes so they could catch their breath. (Please realize I am purposely not giving all details since this is a family board).

Alas, our pager then went off, and we needed to get DD's from the club. We never did get a chance to get back there again. From reading this thread, I feel we truly missed something big.

Rae,
My DH just sits back and shakes his head knowing if there is an opportunity presented for a bit of humour, I go for it. Life is too short to not participate in it!
I envy an accomplished keyboard player. I wish I had taken my lessons more seriously. You have probably spoken these words to Michael a few times..."Practice, practice". We wish him much luck.;)
Has the "Fidelio" request list gotten any other suggestions? I think Gary & Gail and Annie & Randy should be represented on board the Aug. 2 cruise! Come on you guys...make your requests.

I love your attitude Laura - yes, life is too short to not enjoy! Always been my feeling that even when the challenges come, you MUST look for the good, the positive and the lesson to be learned from it. I feel like I've become a better, kinder and more understanding person who is LIVING my life now because of what I've faced.

Michael is too smart for his own good. He is like a little memory computer - he learns VERY fast and doesn't forget. So hence, James (his piano teacher) gives him a LOT of work so he will have to practice even when he thinks he's done and perfected his work!

I had lessons for 4 years but life turned a corner and the lessons stopped. I try to play now but it's not the same as 40 years ago!

We are lucky our DH's are secure with themselves and us so we can have fun times like this in public!! Tom has been very supportive of my writing and if it wasn't for him (and Kayla) I wouldn't have had so many plays produced! Can't say enough about a supportive family!

I am just glad Fidelio had someone to influence him into piano as he has influenced Michael.

.... is..... Only The Good Die Young (Billie Joel).... I also have to share my story about Fidelio.... Every year, my husband has children from our local band come to my work place (I'm usually in meetings at the time) and they play Love Me Tender..... We also got engaged on Valentine's Day and the entire band (60+ kids) came into the restaurant where we were having dinner, played Love Me Tender, then he proposed.... So, it's kind of a special thing for us... This past Valentine's Day was blissfully spent on Castaway Cay, and I happened to run into Fidelio so I asked him if he would play Love Me Tender and dedicate it to my hubby.... (I explained the story to him.) Later that evening, as we were enjoying our last night at the Duelling Piano's, Fidelio broke into the best rendition of Love Me Tender, and dedicated it to my husband who was shocked!! I thought it was very cool that Fidelio would sing that song to my hubby!
As you can see, that story has nothing to do with the song I requested, but I just had to share it after reading other great Fidelio stories here...

Annie - that's a great story and just the type of story that makes us fans of his. He is such a nice person and really knows how to make his audience feel special.

Also congratulations on having such a wonderful DH! What a beautiful story. Many years of happiness to you both!!!

Sharing your memory with us just puts it all into perspective that as much as being a CM involves taking on the challenge of entertaining us as guests and enhancing our enjoyment, there is still the personal touch that endears us to those CM's.
I can't help thinking of the beautiful Beatles ballad "I Will".
A few lyrics in the tune ... "For if I ever saw you, I didn't catch your name. But it never realy mattered, I will always feel the same....
"And when at last I find you, your song will fill the air. Sing it loud so I can hear you, make it easy to be near you. For the things you do endear you to me, you know I will, I will".;)

Yes, that Beatles song is just wonderful! My DH always sings "I Can't Help Falling in Love With you" to me. I think I'll surprise DH and ask Fidelio to sing that one for us!!!

I love when the Family show starts and he gets the kids on stage to do "Unicorn", "18 Wheels on a Big Rig" and "A Bird in the Nest"...the kids just go wild with their imitations!

Just so looking forward to shrimp, mango soup, and seeing my new Disboard friends along with the CM's I know! Can't wait!

Rae,
Music really touches the soul and just finding that one special song that has such heartfelt meaning is like finding your soul-mate. I kind of doubt Fidelio would be able to perform mine and Wayne's special song....it is the love theme from The Godfather, "Speak Softly Love". Yep, I think I would just get a few laughs from the guys over that one!
Oh how I wish we were going to be on The Magic next March.(January also with the ol' gang). Just can't change our plans at this point. Oh well.

Laura24 - I love your tag line regarding "New York born - NJ transplant"........I feel the same way but in my case, I'm in Hoosierville (think Hooterville from "Green Acres")

I think Fidelio could and would play anything. Ohhh, my! Isn't that what a Fidelio FANatic would say! Must be somewhere in our pledge!

I want Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and Big Bopper songs too!

Rae

Wow - being away a couple days sure makes a diffrence!! It is great catching up and hearing everyone's memories. A couple even brought a tear to my eye.

I agree that I don't there is anythign Fidelio couldn't or wouldn't play but Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Big Bopper ...what a great idea.

The more time I spend here the harder it is to wait until Spetember. I wish I was going in August. I hope there are some DISers on my cruise.

Start a thread with the date and you might be surprised to find there are more cruisers than you'd have thought!

The only way to get more cruisers to join is to advertise the fact that this Board does exist and the reason this board exists is beause of sponsors - both corporate and private. People helping people - that's what it's all about!

Rae is right, if you don't see a thread for your cruise get one started, that's what I did back in January when I first signed up on the boards, and now, we have a large group of DIS'ers getting in touch with one another. We are cruising August 23-20, 2003 and are soooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to our cruise.

Did you check the Unofficial Cruise List at the top of the cruise forum page? That's a good place to start, you will be able to find out who else will be on the same cruise as you.

O.K., I put in my two cents worth, now I'm going to try and get back to sleep, DD had a nightmare and woke DW and I up.

IF anyone wants me to deliver a message to Fidelio, let me know!

Rae

All I know is that I will be at every show and wear my Fidelio shirt and scream "We want Fidelio!". Do you think then they will get the hint?!

Okay, I'll make signs too....

This is more than distressing...I think I've "fallen and can't get up".

Quick note: Fidelio is still aboard the ship. Saw him personally. He's assisting Tommy and Anton until the 19-week gig is done (then the remodel).
