I installed it ok and installed driver and software. I did burn a file ok, but seems to take a long time for CD and not sure I am doing it write. I have NERO, why is it so slow in burning ? Should I use something else?

Burning an audio CD takes longer than burning a file.

whew ok. Taking about 5 mins for a 70 minute cd of music.... that seem right?

And what is this about having read/write options. I have cd-r 's so I cant edit them? cant delete a song or file if I dont want it after I burn?

You'd need to use CD-RWs for that, but beware that they don't work in all CD players.

really. OK. But do CD-R's work in all CD players?

And which is best to copy pictures on? Like the pictures I want to be able to see years from now? Thanks

CD-Rs work on most CD players. Nothing is 100%. Even some CD's I've purchased from Target last week won't play on some of my CD players (they even say so -- part of new copy-protection schemes).

Keep in mind that while CD storage seems permanent, its not. There is degredation over time. You may never wear out a CD but then again maybe you will. Again, nothing is 100%.

Right, so keeping more than 1 copy type should be best. maybe 1 CD and 1 print kinda thing.

You should make 2 copies of any CD that you are using as a backup. Put one away and don't use unless you can't read the first one. Every couple of years you should back up to the current media. For example take the info from your cd's and burn them to DVD's.

thanks makes sense!

I have NERO and it takes a loooooonnnggg time to copy somethings. Plus, you have to keep an eye on it because sometimes (and I don't know why) it will ask if you want to continue and give you so many seconds to click 'yes' or it will abort the copying. I've come back to my computer and NERO has shut down and it can be very frustrating! :guilty:
