~!Who knew you could relax in Disney?~Mother/Daughter Tr~5/2 May Trip Plans Days 5-8

We are staying at Boardwalk, currently planning on Epcot on May 6th, AK on May 7th, (with our tix included in the race package!) MK May 9th for my daughter's 5th birthday (and MK EMH)

We will have one more ticket that we haven't decided where to go, but the kiddo only has two tickets, thankfully we are traveling with built in baby sitting, my mom and dad are staying at BLT.

Lucky you to be going back to the Boardwalk!
I can't think of a more perfect place to celebrate a 5th birthday! How fun :goodvibes

We aren't going to the parks on the 6th or 7th (except for the race) we don't want to do too much walking before the 5k. Maybe we could meet you in the Boardwalk area one evening for a drink or something?

Caitlin and Dawn,

I really am enjoying your trip report so far. We are going the same time as you for this trip and for your August trip this year. Good to hear you were lucky and had no rain. Do you think we will get lucky this year? LOL
I hope so. Thanks for the trip report. Can't wait to hear the rest.

Hi! Glad to hear you are enjoying our TR :goodvibes

I certainly hope Aug. will be dry again for us! We knew it was the rainy season and packed ponchos, umbrellas, etxra clothes you name it!
We couldn't have been happier with the weather so let's cross our fingers for a repeat! I see that you're staying at Pop in August. I can't remember if I said thats where we plan to stay in August too :)

Should be another update tomorrow

Yes we will be at Pop from 8/26 to 9/3. I hope we will have the same weather too. How was the heat? We know it will be hot and humid. But that is the price we have to pay to get Free Dining:laughing: Was the humidity tolerable or really bad for you? We are usually park commandos but this time with my kids being older and it being August, I think we will do the same as you. Go out early, go back to room for relaxing or swim, then go back out later. How did that work out for you? It seems you didnt have long lines that time of year? That is why we picked this week, cause the crowds should be lower than other parts of the summer. Thanks again for all the info.:thumbsup2

It was "hot" (high 80's-low 90's) but because there were hurricanes elsewhere there were wonderful cool breezes that made it feel cooler and kept the humidity down. Our last day those breezes ended and that made it very hot and humid and made it easier to go home

Taking afternoon pool breaks worked great for us. By the time we were getting hot and tired it was time for a swim or Dale would take a nap. The crowds were really light which sort of makes up for the heat :)

Love love love your trip report !!! I've been all caught up and it looks like you guys had an amazing time! We were there only a couple of weeks before you and it makes me feel like i'm right back in the world reading your report ! :cool1:

Thank you! :) We're so glad you're enjoying our TR :goodvibes

Nothing beats feeling like you're back in WDW especially with the awful winter we've been having! :goodvibes

When Caitlin left off she was off on her own (that stupid Julio!) exploring Disney Quest and grabbing lunch from WPE…..

Dale and I however remained at the Magic Kingdom and found a lot more fun was to be had!

The first thing Dale did after we bid Caitlin farewell was to take some pictures of the cute “scarecrows” around the flag pole.

When he finished we decided to make our way back to Liberty Square to see the Hall of Presidents. We cut through the shops on Main Street to cool off a little and when we were in one, we saw these performers entertaining the crowd right outside the doorway. Aren’t their overalls cute?!

We quickly headed outside to catch the show. The band was joined by various Main Street “characters” and they performed several songs together. The big finish to their show was “Supercalifragilistic” and one of the performers grabbed Dale and me and had us join the big chorus line they were forming and we sang and danced alongside the performers. We had so much fun!

After the show the “character” that had pulled us into line came over and told Dale she was so excited because she “didn’t know celebrities were visiting today”. I had no idea what she meant until she rubbed his head and said, “Mr. Clean I love you! And you’re even wearing white!” Dale looked so embarrassed but I loved it and cracked up!

We then continued on our way toward HOP and along the way we passed ROYALTY!! I insisted that we stop and say “hello” and Dale somewhat reluctantly agreed. The line for Tiana and Naveen was short and we met the lovely couple in no time! Princess Tiana asked if he was my prince and when I said “yes” asked how long we’d been together. When I told her “26 years” she and Naveen fussed over how wonderful that was and told us they hope they still look at each other the way we do after 26 years. It was very sweet and we really enjoyed our meet and greet.

After pictures with the Prince and Princess we finally made our way to HOP. We only had a short wait before we were allowed into the theater. I love the new (relatively) show and it along with the American Adventure always make me feel so proud of our country and I always wind up teary eyed.

By the time the show was over our stomachs were grumbling and it was time for lunch. We headed over to Columbia Harbor House and ordered lunch. We ordered one fish meal and one shrimp meal and shared them.

We also got the clam chowder which was really good! When Dale went to grab a table I told him to follow me and took him upstairs to the “secret” Dis dining spot. We were the only people up there and grabbed a window table and talked and ate while enjoying the view. I should say we were enjoying the meal….then IT happened. As we’re looking outside we see a man holding a girl of about 10 by the arm leading her through the crowd. The she puked! Right in the middle of the sidewalk! Her father stood there and let her throw up several times in the middle of the sidewalk! Mind you they were standing almost directly between 2 garbage cans and he had her use the sidewalk. It was crazy! Needless to say we sort of lost our appetites after that.

Since we were enjoying our lazy afternoon we decided to head over to an attraction we often skip due to its high cheesiness quotient. Yep, we were off to see the singing birds and crooning flowers. We arrived at the Tiki Room just as a show was about to begin and sat down and sang right along.

For our final ride of the afternoon we sailed the seas with a band of pirates. When we finished our Caribbean journey we walked out to find “Pirate Goofy” doing meet and greets. I was so excited as I’d never seen him before so we hopped in line and got our picture.

We then decided Stormalong Bay was beckoning us so we hopped on the train and made our way back to the front of the park.

Before we left though, we needed a little dessert. I had wanted to share an ice-cream but we couldn’t agree what to get so Dale got a pineapple bar and I got the traditional, the classic, the Mickey ice cream bar. Yum!

When we got back to the BCV Caitlin was there and we all headed down to Stormalong Bay for a couple hours. We got a 2 man raft and floated along and just enjoyed the water, the atmosphere and being together. It was another perfect WDW day and the fun wasn’t over yet! You see that evening we were headed back to the MK for a special event. One that involves Wishes and desserts…..

Sounds like a great time in MK! We really enjoy eating at Columbia Harbour House. :)

Hey girls!!

Great update Dawn! Great pictures....CHH is our favorite lunch spot at the MK. Cannot believe about the little girl getting sick....that's what you call a great diet plan:lmao:

Did you notice the August hours are out? Have you guys given any thought to what you would like to do when we meet up? I know you have your May trip to plan first, but I just wondered.....:rolleyes1

Thank you :)

The girl getting sick was one of those moments in life where you know you should look away and yet you just can't

I will send you a pm about August :)

Sounds like an awesome afternoon at the MK...except the part about the girl getting sick...crazy that he wouldn't have led her over to the garbage cans.

Your lunch at CHH looks delicious, this was our favorite counter service spot when we there.

Can't wait to hear more:goodvibes

It was really crazy to watch and Dale and I kept saying "take her to the garbage can!" but of course they couldn't hear us :rotfl:

Glad you had a good experience at CHH too :)

Hey Caitlin and Dawn! Great update! Sounds like you and Dale had a lot of fun in the Magic Kingdom, and I love those times when you're just like aww what the heck, and you do all the attractions that you normally skip. That was so cool that you guys got to be in the little show on Main Street! :) And Mr. Clean.... :rotfl: oh my sides!! I have never eaten at CHH :scared1: I know! But I will definitely be visiting the "Dis" spot at least once this summer! :thumbsup2 My family will be oh-so impressed. :lmao: Speaking of this summer, on my big family trip in August, we are staying at CSR!!! I know you mentioned that you guys are staying there in May, and I have never stayed there before, so I'm very excited! I hope you have a great time in May and I hope you both do another mother/daughter TR, because I would love to share your experiences again and get excited about my stay there! :wizard: I see that we will be there at the same time in August along with Queenofallthings! :) Do I hear a DisMeet coming on??? :thumbsup2Can't wait for more! :cool1:

Awww you two are the cutest couple!! That is so nice that you had a good day, aside from the icky moment that we always seem to witness when at Disney. (Once on Swiss Family treehouse of all places!!! Thank goodness we weren't 'under' the kid!! ewwww)
The pics are great, and I can't wait to hear about the Wishes Dessert party!!

What a lovely and relaxing day at MK! I love those little extra touches of the performances on Main Street. Those overalls with Mickey on the back are adorable!

I've never seen Pirate Goofy before either, great picture with him! I hope they bring him around more often.

Thank you :)

It was so nice that there were no crowds that trip that we had plenty of time to do the "must do" rides and to fit in the cheesier or often skipped ones :)

I think you'll really like CSR! We stayed there in Dec.2008 and really liked it. Since the weather wasn't warm enough we didn't get to use their pool though. The pool and hotel are very nicely themed so I think you'll enjoy it! What are your August dates?

Caitlin is already planning another TR so I hope you follow along :)

On the Swiss Family Treehouse?! YUCK!

The Wishes party was wonderful and we took tons of pictures to share! :)

The performers on Main Street were a lot of fun and added extra magic to our day :) I loved those overalls!

We saw Pirate Goofy inside near the Pirates League area. It was a fun suprise :)
