We have had Comcast for the "Triple Play" - phone, internet, cable - for over a year now. I switched to Dish Network to save a lot - it is only $30 for cable now. I bought the Ooma for phone service ($0 monthly fee). That leaves internet. I asked Comcast how much it would be to keep it there - I thought they'd come up with a low number to keep us. They said it would be...wait for it...$69.99 plus tax for internet service alone. UMMMMMM - no.

Who do you use for internet, and what do you pay? I am looking at AT&T for $30/month (with no phone line), but I was really hoping for cheaper...

I am interested in this as well. I am currently with our cable network too but I have been thinking of switching the whole house to directv. But I know that our cable company is outrage just for internet

I have Cox and it is 32.99/month for just internet.

We tried to get the AT&T internet. They advertise in our area, but it's not available. :confused3

I have HughesNet and right now it's 49.99 but it will go up to 59.99 (I called to get a lower rate. That's what they gave me for 3mths. When my 3mths are up..I'm going to call again)

Verizon/Comcast is heavily advertised in our area but I can't get it either. I would love to get ready internet service. My service is slow in the evenings and I've talked to HughesNet and they say that my modem (which I bought from them) is now outdated and I have to purchase a new modem and dish at 200.00!! Ummm, I don't think so.

Is that $30 a month for DSL with AT&T? If so, that's a pretty good deal for dry-loop internet. (Dry loop means you don't have voice service.)

We are very limited on choices here... We have choice three choices... (1) Hughes Net which is slow and requires you to mail them gold bricks to pay for the service each month. (2) The local cable company which is owned by the city. (3) The local phone company's DSL. This company is currently known by Windstream... this week. Most folks around here still call it Alltel which translates to "Service Sucks".

I choose the local cable company because they are able to provide 6 mbs service and a static IP. They charge me $44 and change per month. Without the static IP, I think it would be about $35.

We have Verizon DSL. It has never gone down once. We forgot to pay because we thought ewe had autopay and that was a nightmare paying is as my eyes aren't good enough to read and then enter my CC number and you have to pay the automated way rather then ask for a person who would tell me if it went through ok.

Before that the only option was our local cable company which is Charter, similar to Cox. It went down all the bleeping time. I am an internet addict so taking away my internet sends me for a loop. In fact losing internet makes me evil. So much happier with Verizon.

I have dry loop ATT DSL for $30/mo. It's the mid-range speed, its the fastest they offer in my area.

I'm thinking about changing though. It works pretty good, but I do a lot of streaming video, Netflix, network shows, ect. It's fast enough about 75% of the time. There also seems to be speed fluctuations at odd times, for instance it is super slow a few nights a week from midnight to morning.

I was going to go with Charter Cable internet and TV, but ATT claims they will do dry loop DSL and Direct TV for $60/mo. I don't know if I trust that though! I've heard so may DirectTv horror stories.

We live in the country and have very limited choices. We have an AT&T air card which is $70 something a month, for slow internet. It's not a whole lot faster than dialup! :headache: No streaming video, Netflix, network shows out here! I hate it.

We're only four miles from town but have no access to cable or DSL. We have DirecTV and pay over $130 a month for it ~ includes all channels except Cinemax. No home phone, only cell phones here.

I have Comcast Basic Cable (only because internet is cheaper with it) and Economy Internet Speed and my bill is about $37/month.

I have DirecTV for my cable.

We can't get cable where we live. We have directv for tv. We still have a landline. Verizon was recently sold to Frontier in our area. We have Frontier internet for $19.99/mo. Not their fastest speed available but it works great for us, and soooo much better than the dial-up netzero we had previously.

Did you call Comcast lately? I was paying $45 for internet (12mgs) but I called on Friday to try and get my total bill lowered ( we use them for internet and cable). There were no deals on cable but they offered me 20 mgs internet for 29.99. So now I am paying $15 less for more speed. This is only good for six months but by then I will call back and see what other promotion they have going.

Now, this deal may be just for my area, but you may want to try again. I told them I needed to lower my bill somewhere or I was going to check out other offers from different companines.

Good luck . I hate playing the "game". I just wish they would always give you the best price.

We had Comcast cable TV and Internet with Verizon telephone service. The Internet kept going out and when we had a hard rain there would be telephone problems. We bought an HD TV and when Verizon FIOS was offered in our area we got the triple play. With the special prices we were paying less for a while than we had paid with Comcast. The Internet service has not failed in a year and the telephone service is crystal clear. But now that the special deal has ended the bill has increased. I need to call and see what they will offer me now.

We have Clear and it's $30 a month. We purchased our modem outright, but if you don't do that it's $5/month to rent the modem.

Comcast, its bundled with our phone and cable tv because that was the only way to get it for reasonable rate. We also have directv which is really what we use for tv.

Our internet goes out more frequently than our satellite:headache:, go figure.

We only have 1 choice for internet here - Comcast. We have the triple play so we pay $100 a month for all 3 services. My parents, in another state, have AT&T and have problems with their internet all the time. My son's school has Verizon and we thought they would be laying lines to come to our house soon but after seeing how often the internet goes down at his school, no thanks. It's out more often then it is on.

I wish we had Cox here but they are only in the county next to ours.

We have AT&T for landline and internet bundled.

The landline is $18.42 and the internet is $24.95 = $49.00/month. NEVER had any problems at all with AT&T!

I did not want DIRECTV so we went with COX for cable. BUT when and if U-VERSE comes to my neighborhood, we are getting it! :thumbsup2

Well if your modem is outdated so is mine i'm sure. I find slower service between 4-6p otherwise it's been fine for us. I must have next plan up form you as I pay 92.98 ish/mo with lease fees and stuff.
