Who is your favorite wrestler?

I have never followed wrestling but I would have to say George "The Animal" Steele. He was a full-time teacher at the high school in a neighboring suburb and a very nice man. My boys got a kick out of actually knowing him.

that is the feel-good story of the day. Love George and his green tongue. .

None. One of the stupidest things to watch.
It can be. Monday Night Raw has been mind-numbingly bad for a while.

But NXT and AEW are consistently good, and are shows I'd recommend to anyone who is unfamiliar with the modern product. Clips are readily available on YouTube, should you be curious.

Thanks but I’ll pass

Oh the stories I could tell....I used to wrestle on the Indy circuit for a hot minute back in the day with some of my idols from when I was a kid. Absolutely the best time of my life! My all time favorite has to be Barry Windham. I've known Ric Flair since I was a teenager sneaking into clubs lol. Ric's son, David, was in every show I was ever in. Wooo!

I've never been a big wrestling fan, but what I find fascinating is that while the matches may be scripted, there is still a lot of competition behind the scenes. Coming up with characters, getting popular to get in the higher-profile matches and shows, etc. The promotion angle is really cool to me. Of course, they can't show a lot of that or they might break the kayfabe.
Note, it's not scripted in the sense of the performance of the match. Yes, it is fake in that they are not hitting each other to hurt, but the hits are real (far more in the past than today as the performance acting is lack luster) and the throws are real. I believe only the match outcome is scripted. The performance is impromtu and on old footage, you can hear and see the wrestlers talk to each other as they pick each other up telling what move they are going to do.

I started getting a lot of old WWF in my Youtube feed, and as well as a lot of The Rock. After watching stuff from the 70's seeing Hulk Hogan's entries into wrestling when he was just Terry, and others through the 80's that I watched as a kid, the recent and current stuff can't hold a candle to the performances from way back. I think The Rock is the worst. When they hit, you can see feet of airspace between them.

I think the 80's theatrics were just about perfect for wrestling. Today the theatrics are way too over the top, but just my opinion. I suppose my dad said the exact same thing comparing to his days in the 60's and 70's of watching wrestling (which I enjoy watching those old videos also.)
