I've been due for an upgrade since August, so I had $100 credit that was due to expire in July '11. I used that and paid 99.99 plus tax.

I got the 32gb and it was $299. I figured if I didn't I would be sorry because I wouldn't have enough memory.

It is $20 a month. You don't need to have the feature all the time. You can add it and remove it as you meed to. Perfect for vacations or other travel.

I would like to know this as well. I thought it was like another $20 a month..anyone?

Another reason why I love Verizon...

Last night I had the unthinkable happen. A bottle of water in my purse leaked and got on my brand new iPhone. I was literally sick to my stomach. I didn't care about the Coach bag... but my beloved iPhone was another story. I can't tell you how many cell phones I've had over the course of the last 20 years but I had yet to damage one like this. Ever. Naturally, I don't usually get insurance because I believe it's a waste in my case.

I am still trying to rehab the phone myself (in a baggie of rice, in front of a fan, etc. Won't know for a few days if it will live or not. I called Verizon this morning and added complete coverage insurance on it. Their policy allows customers to add it up to 14 days after a purchase. Whew. I was not happy with the prospect of having to pay $699 plus tax to replace it.... or go back to my Samsung Omnia II.

To the rest of you... enjoy and protect your phones! I should have kept the Survivor case I returned the other day.

Did you have to call to add the Total Care? and how much was it a month? I got my iPhone tonight and all they offered me at the store was the Asurion 10.99 a month insurance with a 170? deductible. I never get insurance but there was no way I was going without it after hearing friends horror stories (like yours) with smartphones.

I got a basic case, but your story makes me wanna get an Otterbox or something this weekend!

I called and added the Total Equipment Coverage. Asurion administers it. $10.99 a month. And yes, a new phone will cost me the $170 deductible if this one doesn't come back to life.

An otterbox wouldn't be a bad idea. The Survivor case I returned because it was a bit bulky but it sealed up all the openings. I am going to the nearest Verizon tomorrow and buy the case again. And I'm going to stop carrying water bottles in my purse unless it's a Vera Bradley... they soak up spills!

You may want to wait a little longer - a new iPhone is being released in June that, if rumors are true, will work on all phone networks.

Took the plunge last night..went and got the iphone 16g! My husbands line was ready for the upgrade - just transferred that upgrade to my line. 199.00 - 30.00 credit on his line!

Loving it so far - i also bought a nice aqua case BUT its not thick like the outerbox one they had BUT its way too bulky - i'll have to find one a bit less bulky - any good suggestions where to get one to fit well?

Have had mine for a few days now and am loving it! Replaced my droid I was having a lot of problems with it. By the way love sticker so far. Accessing the boards is way easier and faster.

yes it does not fit over the mute button perfectly BUT u can still press it.

I was lucky to have a friend whom had a connection at AT&T and was able to get me 50% off. i have to return the case i purchased at Verizon - not nearly as protective!

After debating awhile on whether to get the iPhone or a new Android, I finally made the plunge earlier today. I got the 32 GB model.

I got a case at Target, but I'm not sure I'm entirely happy with it because it doesn't seem to protect the ends of the phone. I plan on buying a Square Trade warranty tomorrow, but I'm hoping I can find a coupon code first.

My old Moto Droid is getting sold, which should pay for about 1/2 of my new toy.

No, and to me, this is a major problem with Verizon's iPhone. I often use the web feature on my AT&T phone to check on restaurants, movie times, etc., when talking on the phone.

For me, this is a total non-issue. I am not coordinated enough to talk and surf at the same time (even on a regular cordless phone + a laptop!)

I have an iPhone for work and my personal cell is with Verizon. My phone just died, so I looked and researched this week and decided to get .... a DROID - Samsung Galaxy S. Although the iPhone does some things the Droid can't do, the DROID does many more things than the iPhone can do. Multi-tasking is a biggie. It also has a bigger , more durable screen (gorilla glass).

Since I now have both, I notice that I pick up my Droid more often than iPhone - not because it is my new toy, but rather because it is a better smart phone. It's FASTER, thinner, lighter, the sound is better, the speaker phone is better.

Plus, I got it for $9.95.
