We just booked our trip for January 31-February 7 and skipped on the dining plan. One reason we did was that I was under the impression a bunch of restaurants were being dropped from the plan, but when I just saw the list on AllEars.net, most everything was still there.

Regardless, since we plan to spend 2 days off Disney property and since we aren't big eaters, we'll probably come out the same as the plan but with more freedom and flexibility.

Just wondering if any others are NOT doing the plan. I feel like I may be missing out on a great deal, but at $39 per person per day, paying another $560 up front seems a bit steep considering we don't eat much for breakfast or lunch, and we can probably share some meals.

Me. haven't booked a 2007 trip yet, but I'm about to. Won't decide on DDP until after my September trip.

[EDIT] BTW, most Epcot restaurants are back on. Check the current 2007 brochure.

We will be there Jan 28-Feb 2, and are not doing DDP. With a two-year old, we don't do many table service meals. So, it wouldn't really save us money. Also, last year when I was waiting to buy my mickey ice cream at a cart, I was behind a woman who was using her snack credit to buy ice cream. For some reason, it was quite complicated, the woman and CM had to discuss which credits she had already used, and there was some discrepancy about what credits she had left. It was all very polite and all, but seemed to take quite a while. Meanwhile, I was waiting, cash in hand, to purchase my ice cream, a transaction that took 10 seconds. That woman's experience is probably unusual, but I am reminded of it when I consider the DDP. But I am very happy for those who use the DDP and like it.

We do not do and will not do thd DP in 2007. It just doesn't make since for us, the DDE works better for us.

We have a AAA room only ressie at POR in August 07 and we're not doing the dining plan.

We can eat for less than what we'd spend on the plan. We eat breakfast in our room most mornings. We drink our own bottled water at most CS locations and use the refillable mugs at the resort food courts. We don't need both an appetizer and dessert at every TS meal.

We are going to book a few TS meals, but will do more CS because it's quicker and we won't be tied down to too many ADRs.

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc i'm going in january and i'm not doing the dining plan i did think about it but my son is not that much of a big eater and we are having 3 days out of the park so i'm giving it a miss

We have also decided not to do the dining plan on our April/May trip. We plan on doing a few TS at lunch ( LTT, Chefs de France ), but will be doing mostly CS, grazing on various snacks, eating around the world at Epcot, or off property. So many choices, so little time!!!

I think it really boils down to what type of trip you have planned. WHat works for one person for one trip might nor work for the same person another time. For example, I am on the Dining Plan for my trip Sept (adult sisters relaxation trip) even though I had to pay for it being DVC. But for my Oct F&W trip it doesn't make sense as I expect to simply eat and drink around (and around and around and around) the World. I haven't decided about Feb yet, but since I will have my light eating teenager with me, we probably will not. For me, I will just make an evaluation before each trip and decide.

We aren't doing the DP. We thought about it, but it would be 900 for our family of four for 7 days. DH is leaving two days early, so we'd have extra meals we won't need. We feel we should be able to budget ourselves around that price for meals anyway - we will do a couple sit-downs and mostly counter-service and breakfast in the room.

I think unless it is free in 2007 I would be unlikey to use it, we like to eat off site as well and have a DDE card, but, we also like TS meals. So, we do the maths comparing discounts to the dining plan benifits, and unless it if freee we are usually better off with the DDE.

 Hi ANNINIOWA We will be there Feb 3rd to 10th from Iowa not doing dinning plan for the same reason. I know they have added all of the resturants back in but I still don't know. I booked with Small World Vacations and she said I can add it closer if I want too. Especially if they decide for the Feb special to be free dining! I know it is a longshot but we have our fingers crossed!
