I remember how excited I was last February when I started planning our first trip. Then I found the DIS boards. My excitement grew as my dread grew. I planned and made PS's. I read books and websites. I felt like a WDW veteren by the time I finally got there. I was walking around WDW like I owned the place. And then it happened, I turned the corner and saw the castle for the first time. My DD and I just stood for a moment and looked at each other as tears streamed down our cheeks. I grew up watching Uncle Walt on Sunday nights and I had waited my whole life to be at that place and I was finally there.

I am by no means a veteren as I plan our 2nd trip but I do know some facts that I want to pass along:

YES, it will be worth all the planning.
YES, it will be worth getting up at the crack of midnight to make a PS
YES, you will have magical memories

I hope you and your family/friends have a magical trip! :grouphug:

This is the first trip I've planned myself and gone with DH :)

Boy without me planning stuff we'd be a mess... DH says we don't need a plan.

:earboy2: I have not been to WDW since I was 8 years old. I'm 27 now, married and have three kids. I'm planning my trip for next summer 2006. This will be much like a first trip for me since it has been almost 20yrs. AK did not even exist when I went and the Winnie Pooh Ride in MK was Mr Toad's Wild Ride. I am so excited! :cheer2:

I am going to be at WDW for the first time in exactly 37 days! I have never been so excited in my life. I have been to Disneyland CA plenty of times and love it. When I started planning this trip, I just figured WDW would be a flashier version of DL. Then I started looking at the attractions and restaurants at the different parks. THEN I found the DIS boards. My excitement has grown exponentially since then. I can't believe that after all this planning, I'm actually going to be there and see all this stuff in a month! WOOOOO HOOOOOOO :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

This is going to be the 1st trip for all of us! Me (26), mom (48? I feel bad, I don't know exactly how old she is) my little sister (8), and my nephew (5)! SO we're all super excited, I know as soon as I land in orlando I gonna be a bawling mess!

Our first family trip to Disney in 7 days!! I went back in the mid 70's when I was a young teenager. I still have great memories of that trip. Dad, mom and my three brothers and sister packed in the Ford LTD wagon and drove from Mass to Disney. Sleeping bags spread out in the 'WAY BACK' as we use to call it, no seat belts, no DVD's or MP3's.....it was a GREAT trip!

1st timer here :cool1: I'm in the midst of planning for a grand gathering of 11!! I'm so nervous because I want everything to be perfect, but I'm realistic that it won't be (however we will be in DISNEY so who cares?) We range in age from 3-76 (a.t.o.t) & I can't wait!

I haven't been to WDW since I was 12. I'm almost 37 now. I'm taking my three boys ages 17, 13 and 9 and my oldest son's girlfriend in June. My younger two have never even been on a plane so they're really excited! I'm just racking my brains trying to plan it all, but I'm having fun researching stuff too. Just can't wait to get there. ::MinnieMo

My DH and I are first timers. :) He thinks I'm nuts doing all of this planning, but it's just keeping me sane :p
7 months is a long time to wait :flower:

First time for my whole family . We will be in disney in 24 days !!
Diane

I went once when I was a baby. 33 years, 1 husband and 3 children later(5,7, and 9), I finally am going and going to make all the memories I can!

We are going Summer 2006 and it will be me and DH's 4th trip together, our oldest two's second trip and our youngest's (who might just be turning 5 there if all things go as planned) first trip.

january 2005 was the first trip for ds, and myself, dh had been a bunch of times in his teen years (a looong time ago). growing up we always went to florida for feb. vacation, but never to wdw....i know it... how lame can my folks be?!!? (one time, would it have killed them? you can only look space shuttles and alligators so much, lol)

dh teased me daily for checking the sites for info, (which was very hard as ds didn't know of the trip until xmas day, which was 2 weeks b4 we left, and i had bought all tickets in july).

i had printed out, and cut, and pasted info on all parks, and our resort(pop). each park had it's own baggie, plus one for misc. tips. well, i can't tell you how much we referred to all that info, so a great big dis hug to all who share so much of their wdw knowledge!! :grouphug:

it was a magical trip for us, full of wishes, hopes, and dreams!! i think one of us mentions something daily from our trip. (and the nice thing is our wonderful neighbor, snowblowed the 2 feet of snow we got while away :cold: we did bring him home some mickey hot cocoa and a mickey mug!!

we aren't able to go again until 2007 :sad1: , due to another trip that was already planned elsewhere, but we are going to stay an extra 4 days in 2007.

so to those of you who are on your way soon, congrats!! have a plan but, be prepared to just take it as it comes. it is "vacation" ::MickeyMo

We are going in just 3 weeks! This will be the first trip for all of us. I have two DD's 4 and 6. They are both major Disney/princess fanatics. My little one has talked about our trip everyday for almost a year! I know for sure I will definately do the "ugly cry" when I see my daughters happy faces.

My boyfriend and I are going to WDW in September. It will be the first time for both of us. I am so excited! I have been to Disneyland in California several times and last month I went to Disneyland Paris for the first time.

I have always been a Disney fan, but only recently developed an interest in WDW. On election night last November, I was depressed with the results (no flames, please!) and knew that I would be in a major funk for days unless I threw myself into planning something fun. I immediately thought of planning a trip to WDW and went out that moment to my local bookstore and bought the Frommers Guide to WDW.

I'm still not happy with my neighbors in the white mansion at the end of my street, but I am delighted with the trip to WDW that I have planned. The DIS Boards have been instrumental in creating the magic at home. This is a wonderful, vibrant online community and I appreciate everyone's contributions.

Ohhh you first timers are in for a huge treat and I am so jealous. Don't get me wrong I still love to go after 13 trips but I still fondly remeber seeing everything for the first time.

Have fun :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

DH & I are going in December! I was there many, many years ago and DH has never been. He cannot understand why I am planning all the time. He asked the other night..."and the whole planning thing is supposed to be fun?" My reply "In order to have a Magical time, planning is a necessity!" He doesn't really want to go, but I know once he's there it will be a whole different story! Oh yeah, this will be his very first time flying too....and he's in his 40's. Boy, I have my hands full :rotfl:

69 days and counting for 8 of us on our first trip to WDW. Husband, me, my mother, 3 of our children and 2 of our granddaughters. With everyones help ,here and TourguideMike, we got all of our PS's and I feel really confident that in 10 days there we will really be able to see and do alot.

I love hearing first timers' reactions to WDW. We were first-timers ourselves a couple of years ago-- well, in a sense. I had been once before, in 1984, at the ripe old age of 8. We didn't really ever go on real vacations-- just trips to see granparents-- and the only reason we went to WDW in the first place is that my grandparents took us. MY GF Nikkie grew up in a less-well-off family, and she never got to take a real vacation anywhere.

I got the WDW bug in 1998 when I first started working for a bookstore and picked up the Birnbaum Guide and the Unofficial Guide. We talked about going to WDW sometime in the future. Our tentative plans kept falling through due to job issues and lack of money. Finally, in June 2003 everything came together, and we were able to go. My first time in 19 years, and Nikkie's first time ever.

From the moment we saw the castle for the first time, the next 6 days were just one magical moment after another. The highlight of the trip came on our third day, when we watched Spectromagic, which brought both of us to tears-- then two nights later, when Illuminations: Reflections of Earth did it again.

We were fortunate enough to be able to return a year later, and we're going for the third time very soon. I count my blessing severy day that we were able to make it through financial difficulties to the point where going once a year is possible.

I truly wish all you first-timers have as wonderful of a first trip as we did. :earsboy:
