Who has used both in-room and community laundry at BWV-PHOTOS ADDED POST #29?

I seem to recall needing my room key to open the door to laundry room at BCV. (Maybe I just think I used my key?)

you are probably correct. It has been a while since I have been at BCV.

guess it is a good thing.

I hope the washers at BWV work as well with powdered detergent as they do with liquid, because I plan to bring pre-measured powder detergent. I don't know if the TSA agents at the airport would stop me from bringing in the little laundry drops (liquid in little "plastic" packets) or not.

That's I good idea!!!

if you just pack them they are fine.

done it - generally wait a few minutes after put this thing in - before putting in the clothes. since I am allergic to many things - want to be make sure it is melting before put the clothes in the wash.

if you don't have these problems - just GO FOR IT!

We are trying to only bring carry-on luggage instead of checking any bags, so I am not sure that Security will allow a bunch of little Laundry drops, since they are liquid. Each one is not over 3 oz. but together...I'd hate to buy them and have to leave them behind since they aren't cheap, and then I'd be without detergent. Has anybody had experience putting the Laundry Drops in their carry-on and did they stop you from bringing it onboard at the airport?

I always forget to clean the lint trap in the room dryer the first time, am I the only one? After I remember to clean it, the second load that I dry seems to go much faster....

Since they are liquid, they would need to go in the quart size baggie with your other liquids. You can bring as many as you can fit in your little plastic baggie.

Check out the info on the TSA website for the latest rules -

3-1-1 for carry-ons

In August BCV had the LG machines and they were good. There were 2 washers and 2 dyers. The only problem though that some people did a full time wash which took over 2 hours even though people were waiting for the machines. There is a quicker option to select and lots of options all together.

:) Just a "thank you" for responding. Very helpful info, especially the locations, as we're relatively new to the DVC aspect (regrets that didn't buy in sooner, but....) I'm more a "lurker" than a poster...:surfweb: but I do recognize the "regulars" on the Dis! Happy weekend to all!

Here are promised photos. As you can see, I should have turned off the flash. But hopefully you all will get an idea about the controls. I did not use the machines but a woman in the laundry room warned me to NOT pick the wash cycles that can take up to 2 hours!
Here is washer:

Here is dryer (sorry for the photo quality):

which were the cycles that took forever? I imagine that "Sanitary" would be a longer run, but my washer (knocking on my wooden head) is 12+ and is not sophisticated - I generally just do the "heavy" load cycle.
:confused3

Thanks Jean for the photos!

The cycles that are quicker you need to use the "Speed Wash/Dry" all the other programmes take hours. I used these machines at BCV in August and found the speed wash/dry did our laundry well although the washing wasn't really dirty.

I don't know which cycle took a long time, but I also suspect it was "sanitary." I have an old, basic machine that I will keep until it dies so I am way behind the times regarding these modern ones!

I have these exact same machines at home. I love them. When you start the cycle, there is a computer screen which tells you exactly how long the cycle takes. Generally, the cotton/normal cycle takes about 50-60 minutes. The speed cycle (if your laundry is only lightly soiled) takes about 30 minutes. As for drying, the normal cycle takes 40 minutes, the cotton/towels 50 minutes, and the permanent press about 30 minutes. The best part is that each machine can hold 2 to 3 times as much as a regular washing machine. For instance I washed 12 per of jeans the other day and they all turned out great.

Thanks, Bunny. I may try these machines when I go back later this month. I think it would help newbies to the machines if some simple instructions were posted in the laundry. You could advise Disney!
