Where can I find the best hot dogs in WDW?

I like plain hot dogs-no weird toppings. Prefer the pork/beef ones over all-beef ones & I prefer a soft bun.

Thoughts?

I stayed at the music resort and they have a very good chili cheese dog, you would think that a place like casey's ball park dogs would be good. No way, they heat lamp cook them and they taste greasy. :headache:

You may be disappointed, I'm pretty much sure all on site Disney owned places serve a chicken/beef hot dog.

I know they serve them at Casey's. There they have rolled out "gourmet" hot dogs with tons of toppings. Some say to mask the taste others say to serve a more expensive product.

I would recommend going to Disney's Boardwalk Inn/Villas and getting Hot Dogs at Boardwalk To Go which is their food cart located along the Boardwalk. Based on what you said their's sound like the type you are looking to try. Plus if you order their Hot Dog Basket combo it includes French Fries and a drink of your choice.

Thanks! I've never noticed a hot dog cart over there! Is it on the DDP? Doesn't matter if it isn't...

The dogs at Germany are good. They are natural casings. They 'snap'. I order them w/o the kraut. The rolls are good but are big so they can handle the kraut. I usually have too much roll for the dog! I am a hot dog snob. They have to snap and this is the only one in the World I have found.

My family really likes the hot dogs at Caseys at the Magic Kingdom, but I believe they're all beef.

I agree, they are really good. Their kraut is absolutely delicious too. I agree that the roll is really big, I solved that by cutting the hot dog in half lengthwise. It sat flat and handled all the sauerkraut and mustard easily.

Have to agree with a pp - the dogs, and especially the brats, are good at Sommerfest.

Otherwise? The Nathan's stands at MCO - I don't care at all for the rest of the dogs served in WDW.

ESPN Hot Dogs are my favorite. Especially with the chili and cheese on it. So big my hubby and I share it.

Agreeing that Germany in Epcot is your best bet.

As far as I know there are no pork/beef dogs at WDW. All the Disney-operated counter service places except probably Sommerfest (this includes Casey's) serve chicken/beef blends. You can still find all-beef at a few places that are not operated by Disney (usually at DTD; the kiosk at Boardwalk is not operated by Disney and may also have the all beef) and at table services.

Sommerfest has franks and brats, may be the best place to look for the type of dog you like.

You will also not find soft buns at Disney-operated counter services since they made the wholesale switch to whole grain.

I've been on a personal quest to find decent hot dogs at WDW and so far it's not pretty. I, too, like my hot dogs plain, which means the taste of the actual hot dog really matters. The basic hot dog at most WDW locations is 60% chicken/40% beef and they are usually served with some sort of chili or other topping unless you specify you want it plain (I think Disney knows they taste awful plain). Yes, Sommerfest has all-beef hot dogs. The only other locations I've found are at Downtown Disney. Wetzels Pretzel's has an all-beef Pretzel Dog that is in a pretzel wrap instead of a bun. The other place is Pollo Campero and they use some sort of gourmet bun. Buns for hot dogs and burgers at WDW are anything but normal. They lean towards oversized wheat buns that are usually tasteless and sometimes fall apart in your hands. Casey's Corner is using the chicken blend dogs and have added a "Chicago-style" version, which is on a poppy seed bun with a bunch of toppings. You'd think a place like Disney would have plently of good-old traditional American hot dogs that you can add your own toppings if you want. My quest continues.

As long as people get hungrey and still pay the high disney prices for a dog on a awfull wheat bun, disney will continue selling them, it's all about marketing, right now these type of so called heathly buns can be purchased cheep and as long they sell, this type will be offered. I'm not a fan of the wheat buns on the hot dogs or the burgers, they need to be boycoted and not purchased, than Disney will change them.
