Ok - between the Hoop De Doo ande the luau - who do you believe has the best food. I know that most people think that HDDR is the best show - but I am interested in the food!!!!!

Thanks.

The HDDR hands down. The food at the luau was horrible and the show just so so.

I was going to say that's a tough one. We had bad food at both of these. But the entertainment at HDD was better than the Luau.

For us both was good. If I really had to make a choice I would prob. pick the HDDR. Hope you enjoy the food with the one that you decide to go with.

Actually, the food is the same(for the most part). The Spirit of Aloha has modified the food somewhat for the tropical taste. The salad is different as is the desert. The desert is pinapple upside down cake. The meat selection is the same if I remember correctly. At HDDR, the salad is your garden varaity and the deserrt is strawberry shortcake. I think they also serve different veggies. Well come to think of it I guess they are different. But the meat I believe is the same. We liked the food at both. The show at Spirit of Aloha is not nearly as good as HDDR and I would choose HDDR over Spirit of Aloha...smjj

When everyone talked about the strawberry shortcake, I expected strawberry shortcake. When I got served a square of white cake with a small dollop of artificial topping and some canned strawberry topping, I was extremely disappointed. I thought the food at both places was terrible.

Wow. The strawberry shortcake I had in May was awesome. Nothing like you've described. Maybe it depends on the time of year and availability of fresh strawberries.

If I remember right, we were there in June. Should have still been able to get strawberries.

I really wish that the Laua was more like the original show. The first part, that I like to refer to as "Saved by the Bell goes to Disney" is not all that good. The last part where it goes more for a rational luau feel is good though. I think the food in both places is good, but not great. It seems a bit bland, but nothing I would classify as horrible. I have always had good luck getting drinks at the luau though. Beer and (cheap) wine refills are part of the cost. If you order two at the beginning.....I like to say, "I know you are busy, so can you bring me two beers to save time", they will usually treat you pretty well.
