I am staying at POFQ in 2 weeks for the first time. I wanted to hear from some people who have stayed there, what they liked, disliked, etc... has anyone ever done the carriage ride between POR and POFQ? I am going with my DBF and thought it would be a cute idea. :)

My family and I just got back from a week at POFQ. Great Resort. Buses stink. Just ask me a question and I'll try to help. Sorry I didn't get to do the carriage.

We loved staying there. I like how small and close it feels. I like walking around at night, it feels so southern since we are from MI. I like taking the boat to DTD. We walked to boatwrights for dinner one night, very good.
And my favorite part was hearing the horse clop thru each night!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I stayed there last June with a friend. It was wonderful. We moved over from a value resort and we kept saying - well this is better and, um, this is better. Let's see, the beds were nicer, the safe opened without an act of congress, the small refridgerator, more drawers, the landscaping, the curtain between the beds and the sinks, the begniets (sp? - small New Orleans doughnuts - fresh made to order every morning), check in, the pool bar, the slide, the boat to Downtown Disney. It felt more like a resort vacation and less like a place to leave your stuff.:rotfl:

Have stayed before and visited many times and will return next week to stay, one of our absolute favorites out of all the moderate and deluxe resorts. It has a very special atmosphere and the size of the resort really offers something a little extra.

We have had many pleasant stays there and do not mind their bus at all.....

We LOVE this resort - this weekend will be our 3rd stay there. It is relatively small, great atmosphere and we've never had a problem with the buses here! Enjoy your stay!:goodvibes

I really like POFQ. It is very peaceful and romantic- great for a couple. The boat ride to DTD is great- ask your boat captain why the water is the color it is- it is actually a pretty interesting story. Make sure to ask the captain about the treehouses you will pass on the left also. You can rent little two-seater boats and tool around too. It is pretty fun, but keep in mind that these boats barely move, so it is no thrill ride, but still worth doing. I have never done a carriage ride, but I have walked between the two resorts many times. It is a very nice, short stroll along the river. Make sure you hit Boatwrights for breakfast at least once. They have one of the best breakfasts in all of WDW, IMHO. If you are piano bar types, the piano guy over at POR is great. Heck, even if you aren't piano bar types it is worth checking out. I never found the busses to be a problem, but I think that all depends on the day. We did use the OKW bus to get home one night from Epcot when the PO busses had lines stretching back in to the park. We took a bus to POFQ, then a bus to DTD then took the boat home.... or maybe it was the boat to DTD then the bus home.... either way, it probably took longer than just waiting for the bus at Epcot.

I only stayed there one night but I really liked it. It was my first time to stay at a moderate (we moved to the Poly thereafter). The room was bigger than I thought. The bathroom with the curtain really worked well to add privacy to that space. The resort is quite small and everything was a quick stroll. The food court was convenient but I admit I hate food courts. The boats to DTD were a huge plus as we didn't intend to go to the parks that night - just relax after our flight. The theme was well done and the effect charming.

I really like POFQ. It is my favorite moderate resort. I really like the intimacy of the resort. It is small and has a very personal feel to it. The CMs there are wonderful, Mousekeeping does a good job, the grounds are gorgeous and the bus service is fantastic. I have stayed at POFQ more that any other resort on Disney property.

Have stayed there 3 times and its my favorite......Loved the resorts charm.....And the Pool.......I stayed there one time just overnite with my girls coming home from a roadtrip........Love the Space in the rooms and the mini fridge......I love walking around the place.....oh and the bar and Hot tub, hubby's Fav..........

Have fun......

I love POFQ! We've stayed there five times and will be going back in February. The size, the music and theming are great. We've never been disappointed. I found the busses to be far better than the busses at the BC! Have a magical trip!!:thumbsup2

We have stayed there at least two times. All of our stays were great. Pool is a plus. My daughter loved sliding down the serpent slide. Rooms were nice and cozy. The resort had a much smaller feel that Port Orleans Riverside. Rooms were decorated much better than PORS. Did not do the carriage but the boat to DTD was fun. Food court was fine, a little better than the All Stars. We would go back again.

We think POFQ is great! We really had a nice stay there. Every CM we encountered was friendly. The grounds, public areas, and our rooms were very clean and well kept. We never had a problem with the buses and we really enjoyed the boat to DTD.

Our teenage boys didn't like the pool slide at all, but they did enjoy the pool itself. I wish there were at least one "quiet" pool at the resort, but the main pool was nice.

We saw the horse and carriage several times, but since we've taken carriage rides in NO (and have horses at home), it just wasn't something we really thought about doing.

I can't think of anything we didn't like. Sure, there were a few minor irritations, but nothing that I would let ruin my trip or bring me down.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!!!!

thanks for all the suggestions and comments! i am even more excited now, if thats even possible! :dance3:

We stayed there in 2005 and we loved it! We also lucked out and got a room 2 steps away from the pool and food court. My kids also like the pool at FQ better than POR.

Have a great time!

We love POFQ, thought the size and ease of the resort was terrific, found the buses to be great (my DH fav part of the trips-not driving!) I have several 350 shots of POFQ if you are interested-

We are looking forward to staying here again and again, really has the feel of a deluxe!

Loved it too! Lush and compact..No long long walks...A very pretty place to stay..

Aug. was our first time in a moderate. We usually stay in the deluxes or the Swan. We loved the grounds, the CMs, the live music, the pool, and the food, but we hated the room. It was the dustiest room I have ever been in anywhere. Even the toilet paper holder had a lot of dust just on it. And the corners of the bathroom had little piles of dust too. About 2" from the wall was a ring of dust. There was trash left in the corner of the room next to the bed and the wall. The beds were okay. I just don't like turning down the sheets to see the mattress cover. It was as if the sheets were not big enough for the bed. Not a good look. The A/C smelled if you were near it, it was okay when you moved away from it. I'm not big on the cutrain. I felt like what a tacky motel must be like. We did talk to the front desk and got rid of the dust on the rug. We only stayed 3 days then went on a cruise then to the Poly which was 100% better in room quality. I had hoped to love the resort whic I still do, just not the rooms. We were in room 1310.
