I sold my SSR and bought BCV because I wanted BCV at the 11 month window for December and Spring Break vacations. Anyone else sold their first DVC resort to buy another? And yes, I know firsthand that's not the best way to do it!

I sold all my BWV and replaced them with HHI.

We sold our SSR points and purchased VGC, but the main reason was to change UYs as the new banking deadlines didn't jive with our travel times. Not the smartest financial move, but since we're on the west coast we wanted most of our points in the VGC.

Yes, I sold my VWL contract after adding on at BLT. I always wanted BLT but bought in via resale with only 50 points, because last year, it was rumored that the minimum purchase through Disney would be raised to 200.

Once I closed on VWL, I added on 130 at BLT, and then put it up for sale. After VWL was sold, I then added on another 50 at BLT.

I took a small loss but did get one vacation out of the VWL contract before selling, and I now have the 11 month window for all 180 points for the resort I really wanted in the first place!!!

We sold OKW and purchased BLT. We purchased OKW at $66/point and sold at $74/point.

Good choice-not so much the sell part, but definitely the buy at HHI. We love it there and are currently looking for a small resale there.

We sold our VWL points and bought OKW. After one stay at OKW, DH was hooked and would be happy to stay there whenever we go to WDW. Now he's so happy to say "I own at OKW!" Makes paying those dues a little less painful to pay them to the resort you love.

I had approx the same number of points between the two resorts. Over time, I've found it's much easier to grab BWV right at 7 months than try to get HHI for Spring Break or June/Aug at 7 months. My kids are getting older/and I'm not so much the park commando I used to be, so for me, it was the right decision-

Tammy ( who's staying at AKV for the first time ever this F&W ;);))

I bought a teeny OKW to get in the system, bought VGC ( 3 contracts as of now) and will sell my OKW as soon as I get around to filling out all the paperwork.

We sold our BWV 350 point contract and bought 2 150 SSR contracts. We decided to get two contacts that we could will to our sons. Although we didn't set out to sell for profit, we got the BWV points at a good price and ended up making a modest profit on their sell.

I never use my points to stay at SSR but we're older, empty nesters who can travel during the off times. We got the SSR points onboard the ship during the 11 Southern Caribbean cruise and the incentives and cost per point were great. And we never set our hearts on one resort. If one isn't available we try the next one.

We are in the process of doing just that. Listed our 150 pt BCV contract and hope to sell it soon. Once we find a buyer we will wait a week and then buy a OKW contract.

Sold SSR after they closed the clubs at DTD and purchased BLT. I also have AKV which I will not sell. Susan

I sold my initial 150 points at SSR and then bought 150 points at BLT (3 - 50 points contracts). I took a loss at SSR to do so, but after a visit to Magic Kingdom, my wife really wanted to be close to the park. When I bought SSR, I was single, and SSR was the only resort being sold by Disney at the time. I still like SSR, and we may eventually stay there. However, my wife is from Albany, NY (close to the real Saratoga Springs), and she has no desire whatsoever to stay at a place that looks like where she is from. She would rather stay in a hotel-style resort and be close to everything. We stayed at BLT last month, and she had the BEST vacation as a family she's ever had. That says it all... In fact, I just added another 50 points at BLT! :cheer2:

We have another 75 points contract at VWL and a 150 points contract at AKL. I am considering selling some of those, but I am not certain. We have a Dec UY, and having an 11 month booking priority for Christmas at VWL is a plus. I may even need to add some points at VWL to be able to stay in a 2 BR over Christmas. As for AKL, we bought it as a founding member, and there is some sentimental value about that. Also, AKL has a great children's water area from what I have heard, and being able to book that in the summer in the future when the kids are out of school is an advantage. However, from what I have heard AKL may not be that hard to book at 7 months. So, that 150 points contract may be the next to go....

After being married and having kids, our needs change, and there are other factors to consider.

Certainly this is a personal decision, however I think the circumstances where it's reasonable to sell to rebuy are very rare. Basically it's related to a handful of situations, those that are downsizing significantly, possibly if ones owns a more expensive resort and wants a lower cost one, and those that must have a given resort for MOST trips and it's clear they won't get what they want. There really are few items that fit into that category. AKV concierge, HH for summer for non 2 BR units, BWV BW view including 3 BR, VB Beach house for higher demand times are really about it. For most situations, even many of those above, it's a better choice to just take the dollars you'll lose in selling and rebuying and do an add on instead.

sold OKW and brought BLT.

waited over 15 years for a monrail DVC resort and definitely love it

Dean - one reason for my sell - was I am definitely getting older.

So being close to MK is so much better for me. love the fireworks from my room or TOW. it is just wonderfully! So being able to leave after the parade and come back later - still seeing the fireworks... well love it.

also own at BWV - so close to Epcot too.

Pat part of my point in the above (which I didn't specifically spell out) was that you would not necessarily be prevented from staying most trips at BLT owning OKW. Only you can decide whether the roughly $35 a point is a reasonable trade off for the increased (but not guaranteed) opportunity to book BLT. To me it wouldn't be even if I wanted BLT most trips.

We were disappointed for over a year after BLT was announced just 2 weeks after we added on at AKV. Last month we finaly decided it was time to "move". We sold both our AKV contracts in only 4 days (great job TTS) and bought into BLT. I love it and would never own anywhere else for too many reasons to list.

We bought a small resale, our second contract. Decided not enough points and not where we wanted our second 11 month contract. Got same amount small contract thought share timeshare store bought a few more points from disney for that timeshare and DH said today buy some more points we were a few short for our next stay and today Disney said Yes and the points should be there for this Saturday. Yipee
