Who has had the stomach flu in the last month?

Unpleasant topic I know, but I'm curious. If you have had it, where do you live?

4 out of 6 in my family were throwing up last night. This is not your every day variety stomach bug. We're talking violently and for 6-8 hours straight. My 16yo daughter hasn't been sick like this in her life. In the 10 years I've known my husband, he's never thrown up.

I'm wondering who has been sick with this particular virus and what general area they are from. I'm wondering if this could be that Norwalk virus spreading? Or something worse? (they also have fevers.)

I live in NW NYS.

Thanks!

My son had it just before Thanksgiving. No one else got it, but we got fanatical about washing hands and stuff while he was sick.

I have managed to avoid it but a form of that is going around here in MO for about 2 months.
Throwing up and diarreha.

DH, DS and I all had it the first weekend in December. Thankfully DS had a very mild case - he only vomitted once which makes me think that maybe he didn't get it.

DH and I were sick as dogs the whole weekend. Thankfully DH had it about 36 hours before me so he was starting to feel a little better (the vomitting had stopped) when mine started so we could switch out taking care of DS.

This is a violent stomach flu and I don't think I have ever been that sick nor have I ever seen DH that sick. It was miserable. I too was wondering if it was Norwalk or just some random, violent, stomach flu.

My poor DH got it....at Disneyworld!......the first week of December and missed a couple of days vacation. We had already been in WDW for about 4 days...so it was the Orlando strain he got.

My dad had it a little over a week ago and DS#3 had it the beginning of last week. So far the rest of us are ok. With my luck I'll get it while I'm on break from work or on Christmas Eve.

I'm in NE Ohio and 3 of my 4 boys have had it this past week.

We are in Norman, Oklahoma. So far, we have dodged the bullet, but DD's school has it bad! Each "core" of children share the same teachers and classes (math, lang. arts, science, and soc. stud.) so there are say around 100+ kids per core (nice round number). By the end of the day yesterday, her core had 53 kids out with this bug. One time a class only had 3 students! I'm very afraid, especially with Christmas within the week, but it's finals week, so we must press onward.

Just heard on the news that up near Enid they had to close some schools due to illnesses. Sounds like the flu with fever and aches.

Yes, we have had it here. It all started Thanksgiving week, oldest DS had fever, body aches, headache and Strep; DS#2 had vomiting, headache & body aches; DD had vomiting, fever & headache. DH had body aches & the runs. I thought I was doing well, then it hit me when DH and I were out of town. I was so dehydrated yesterday morning, I could barely move. I haven't been that sick in a very long time. I feel better today though.

It has been going around at my sons' schools, hopefully it will be over soon.:(

We are in Southern Ohio - my DS age 5 had it last week and ended up in the hospital from dehydration - this is nasty stuff!!!!

My 12 y.o. had a stomach bug, but that was well over a month ago. He also had a fever.

Nobody else in the family got it though.

So far so good in dodging the bullet!

I cam down with it Monday afternoon. Had to get off the train on the way home because I had to vomit. Stayed home yesterday with my head in the toilet most of the day, Feeling a bit better today but wished I had stayed home another day.

DH had it Friday night/Saturday and we thought for sure it was food poisoning. It was *so* violent and sudden....I thought our dinner out had given him food poisoning. But when I woke up with it Sunday morning we knew it wasn't food poisoning. Gosh, it was AWFUL but thank Goodness it only lasted about 24 hours.

All 5 of us had it last week. Violent vomiting for hours. DS had to go to the hospital for an IV because he was sick for so long.

I live halfway between D.C. and Richmond and everyone around here has had a lingering stomach flu for the past month. You just can't seem to get rid of it.

Lucky4me--did I read on another thread that you're from Greece? It caught my eye because one of my college roommates was from Greece and still lives there.

Count me in! But we have had the diarrhea flu. DH had it Friday, I got it Monday. 12 hours of sitting on the pot. Mine is still lingering this morning. I've had 1/2 cup of rice and 2 glasses of watered down juice in 48 hours!

The plus side-I lost 12 lbs! If only the weight would stay off.

We're in NE Ohio.

It's here in Canada also.

Entire family went through it 2 weeks ago. And it all started with youngest dd vomitting at a nice restaurant.

The local hospital's emergency dept. was closed for a week. And the next town's hospital 25 min. away was closed for 2 weeks. Even know a few people who got so dehydrated, they need IV's.

Only lasted 24hrs. but was very sudden and violent.

DH had it Fri pm - Sat pm. Fever, sweats, bad vomiting. Unfortunately he had to fly out Sun am on a business trip for the week. He says he's ok now.
