Who has had kidney stones??

Just wondering what kind of symptoms?

Last night at work, all of a sudden, I started having <B> sharp</b> knife-like pain in my left lower back. It felt like someone taking a knife to me! It made me stop and catch my breath. About doubled me over. It came about every minute and lasted 10 seconds or so each time. But, it went away after about 45 minutes, so I'm thinking maybe it was just muscle spasms or something?

Anyone ever have kidney stones where the pain went away for a day or so and came back? I have never felt anything like that before!!!!

(yea, yea....as a nurse, ya think I'd know this stuff!!)

Kidney stone would be on the differential.

You could always check and see if your urine dips positive for blood. Microscopic hematuria would be more consistent with kidney stone versus a muscle spasm.

the knive like cutting in back pains sound like kidney stones but i know when my df had them the pain just kept getting worse as the urine backed up in kidney and pressure increased. i agree about doing urine dip.

Kristy, my SIL's SIL had several kidney stone attacks during her last pregnancy. Not fun at all!

Your description does sound like it, but maybe it is just a muscle spasm.

I had a large kidney stone two years ago but my back didn't bother me "very" much. The blood in the urine was what got me.

I passed a kidney stone the same night a tooth abscessed.
The pain never stopped that night.
Now I have a kidney stone necklace
and a crown on my tooth.
