We're very excited because we recently found out we are expecting our first baby in July!!!

We are also planning on visiting WDW in late January when I should be approximately 15 weeks - or 3 1/2 months - along. We talked about cancelling the trip when we found out, but since we already have our AP's, had free airfare to use & are getting a good resort discount, we decided to go & enjoy a relaxing vacation together (and get away from the Cleveland winter for a week!) :goodvibes

Who here has gone while pregnant & what recommendations can you give me? I pretty much know which rides to stay away from - is there anything special you did while expecting at Disney World? I'd love to hear about your experiences!! :teeth:

First of all CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I went to WDW BOTH times while preggo and had two COMPLETELY different experiences!

First with my son, I went while 7 1/2 months pregnant. In AUGUST. IT WAS HORRIBLE! I would never do that again!

With my DD, I went when I was 19 weeks...almost 5 months. It was GREAT! I went on everything except ToT, Space Mountain, BTMRR, Mission Space, etc. I DID go on Splash! I didn't think that 1 drop was such a big deal.

Remember, at WDW there is SO MUCH TO DO without restrictions! There are so many rides, attractions, shows, restaurants...you will SERIOUSLY have a GREAT time!

If you get tired while pregnant (like me!) just take your time, relax and try to go back to your resort for a little nap before you get ready for dinner. Then you'll be good to go for the night!

Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! This will be the last trip with just you and DH...from now on, you'll have your precious baby to bring with you!!!

HAVE FUN PLANNING!!!!!!!

Thanks Kim!! :) That's what I figured, too - get one last trip in just the 2 of us.

Splash will actually be closed for rehab when we're down in January anyways, so we'll miss it either way. I've heard mixed reviews on the Safari at AK - some go on it with no problems & others stay far away from it. I plan to ask my Doctor for her recommendations before we go, too. I'll miss Expedition Everest the most - that was our favorite in September!

I've been very tired lately, but I've read that should get a little better by the 2nd trimester - which is when we're going. :thumbsup2 We also split our stay at POP & Caribbean Beach so that I can spend the afternoons relaxing on a hammock in the sand. :goodvibes

Thanks so much!! Anyone else?

Hi,
I went when I was eight weeks pg w/ds. I think 3-1/2mos would be just about a perfect time to go because you'll be past all the first trimester stuff (hopefully) like morning sickness. Fortunately I didn't experience that but I was just really tired all the time. Anyway, here's the Tips for Expectant Moms link from allearsnet.com. I think there's some helpful advice there to so just thought I'd pass it along.

Have fun, and Congratulations!

CONGRATS!! :goodvibes

I went to Disneyland when I was pregnant and I just tried to take it easy and take lots of breaks. I was able to ride the mild rides and I had a GREAT time! Just try to sit as much as you can enjoy the surroundings and FOOD! LOL! :thumbsup2

Congratulations!!!

We went to Disney when I was "newly" pregnant with my oldest DS (he's now 11 1/2!) I can't remember exactly how many weeks along I was, but it was my first trimester. We went in October, and the weather was beautiful. The only problems I had was that I was extremely morning sick, and extremely tired. So, we took it easy in the mornings (no early mornings!) and I ate as soon as I got up, in our room (we used my SIL's DVC points), and we made early evenings. I took a lot of breaks and ate a lot of healthy snacks throughout the day. If I kept my stomach full, I felt much better!

Have a fantastic trip...enjoy!! (and buy something for the baby while you're there...it'll make a nice memory! I bought a Pooh sippy cup for our little one...it was fun to shop for baby stuff!)

I rode the safari while pregnant with no problems, but I'm sure you will follow your doctor's advice. I hope you have a great time!

Congratulations!

We went in Dec 2005 when I was 16 weeks. As others have mentioned this was the perfect time to go during pregnancy. No morning sickness, etc... and you won't be very big so you'll be more comfortable with the walking, etc... . Also since you'll be going in January you won't have the excessive heat or humidity to deal with.

Definitely take breaks when you need them (sit on the benches, go back to the resort midday for a nap or a swim, etc... ), keep yourself well hydrated, check the park maps for bathrooms (so you'll know where they are in case you need to quickly), definitely take some healthy snacks with you (I found I would get hungry from all the walking --- there's so much junk food around that when the craving hit I was glad to have a piece of fruit handy.)

As for rides, we followed the recommendations Disney gave at the rides --- if it had a warning for pregnant riders I didn't go on it. While I did miss going on all the fast/scary/bumpy ones that I love doing I told my DH that next visit I'd go on all my favourites twice to make up for it. We went and played the mini golf and did a spa treatment (both of which we normally never do.)

Hope you have a wonderful time.

Hi,
Congratulations!! I went to WDW during both of my pregnancies! The first time I was the same as you will be (3 1/2 months) I was a little more tired than usual, but still had a blast. I just paced myself, and took a little nap every day. With my son I was 31-32 weeks. And again it was great! I just drank plenty of water and didn't overdue it. I think its maybe not for everyone, but I had wonderful easy pregancies and you know your own body. If I ever get pregnant again, I'm going to Walt Disney World!! Its a tradition for me LOL!!! Have a wonderful time!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on your baby!

I went to WDW when I was 6 weeks pregnant w/ DD, and I just recently returned from WDW with DD (who's now 3). Believe me, it's a lot easy to go when pregnant than to go with a pre-schooler. :rotfl:

Seriously, there's so much to do that doesn't involve scary rides. I would definetely go. The second trimester is usually the one when your energy comes back and you're still comfortable.

Go, you won't regret it at all!

I went twice when I was pregnant with my second dd at 21-22 weeks (in February) and then again at 34-35 weeks (in late April). It was great. I was just getting over the nausea the first time, and it was wonderful to be able to eat again. It was very hot in April, but we took it slow and I drank a lot of water. Time in the pool felt great; maybe you would enjoy that if it is warm enough. How about a pregnancy massage? Those are wonderful!

I did the safari rides both times, but I figured that it was no different than riding in the backseat of our SUV through the mountains which is something that we did often anyways. Sitting up in the front of the ride is way less bumpy than the rear cars. I didn't do any of the mountains or anything else rough.

Have fun and take some belly pictures in front of your favorite Disney landmarks! Enjoy your couple time and congratulations on your pregnancy!

I went pregnant - twice. The first time I was about three months along, the second, just a couple weeks.

The first time, I bought the baby (now 10 year old ds) a baby gift from each country in Epcot.

The second time, I bought the baby (now 6 year old dd) clothing (t shirts, etc) from different parks.

Maybe you can get photos of "the baby" (you) with the characters for a scrapbook of the baby's 1st trip to WDW!

I went with my dh when I was pregnant with our first child, so we had no other children with us. We had a great time, we sat by the pool, there was plenty of rides and shows we could do. I was only 3 months pregnant also, so you won't be waddling around yet, I didn't really have too many walking problems, of course we did have to more breaks than usual and keep stopping for water and food. We had a great time, you will too.

We will be going the first week of February, and I will be about 24 weeks pregnant then. I am just now, slowly moving out of the 1st trimester drama of nausea and tiredness. This will be my first time doing Disney while pregnant also. I just plan on following the ride restrictions (all but the Safari-I have been on loads of times, and think that this one is ok), and concentrate on taking my ds on all of the rides he would like the most. This will be his last "free" Disney trip (he'll be 35mos), and more then likely our last for 2 years. I think as long as I take it easy (this is against everything that I am), drink lots of fluids, and relax when necessary...everything should be cool. I was a "easy" pregnant the first time, and have been pretty much the same this time around..so we're just hoping for the best. You will have gone before us, so let me know what you thought. Thanks! Again Congrats :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone!!! :goodvibes

We're very excited to go on the trip! :thumbsup2 We've been to WDW numerous times, so we will try to not go so commando in the parks! :rotfl2:

Since it'll be January & the weather & crowds should be good, I think we'll do jsut fine taking lots of breaks. I can't wait to get some of my favorite snacks at WDW - everything just tastes so good right now, so that should be fun!! :teeth:

Thanks so much for all the great advice!! I think some of the family that knows of our news thinks that we shouldn't be going now that I'm expecting, but they are the same people that question us everytime we go back, so I'm trying not to let them get to me!! :teeth:

I LOVE the idea of getting a baby gift in each country at Epcot!! :thumbsup2 We bought a onesie in Sept at WDW since that's where hubby told me that he was ready to start our family. :goodvibes Shopping for cute baby stuff at my favorite place in the world should be a lot of fun!! :)

I asked my "Disney loving" OB about the specific ride. He told me to go for it...but I would check with your own OB.

Anyway....I'll let you know how my trip goes. I am 3 months preggo and we leave for the World in the morning!!! We are staying for a full week. I wanted to have plenty of nap time ( for me as well as my DS3).

CONGRATULATIONS and have a great time planning for your trip!

Congratulations Emily!! :goodvibes I agree with the pp's...assuming you are past any morning sickness you may have, that is one of the best times to travel while pregnant! I was 5 months along on our Dec. trip last year and I did just fine. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip! :wizard:

I'd love to hear all about your trip when you get back!!! :thumbsup2 Have a blast!! :teeth:

I went last Feb when I was about 12 weeks pregnant. Other than some killer food aversions ( Maple syrup and chocolate) I was great. I did find I got really tired about 2:30 everyday and DH would bring me back to my room and I would have a nap and then I was good to go for the rest of the day.
Make sure to drink lots of liquid and check out all the little places that you may not have before. I didnt do any of the "E" ticket rides. Basically if it had the preggo warning than I didnt do it and DH didnt either which was nice.
We bought lots of stuff for our DS, but not really knowing sizes he still has to grow into some of the things we got him.
It was a lot of fun and a nice way to have one last trip just the two of us.

Congratulations! I've been to WDW 3 times while pregnant: once at 8 weeks, once at 5 weeks and once at 32 weeks. Each time was absolutely fantastic, though I got tired very easily. So, we would go to the parks when they opened (early entry days were the best), stay until noon or 1:00, go back to the resort, I'd sleep all afternoon, then we'd go back into the parks for the evening until close. It worked great! There is very little you can't ride and a lot of what you can't ride is strictly due to a bar or a some part of the vehicle that sits on your belly and could be dangerous for the baby. Just use your best judgement .... Disney doesn't want to get sued so they label a lot of rides "not for pregnant women" because they don't want to take the chance. You have to be the judge. Have fun and best of luck to you!
