Who has eaten at Carthay Circle? How was it?

How was the food at Carthay Circle? Did you eat inside or outside? If you did get the WOC tickets did they give you a premium spot?

Just wondering? I changed my reservations from Monday the 25th to Saturday the 23rd because everyone seems to feel that Saturday may be a better day crowd wise to go than Monday. All they had left was outdoor seating so, I took it. Hope I made the right decision.

I ate lunch there on Friday (June 15), and dinner there last night (June 16). Both times we had an amazing dining experience. We got tickets for the 9pm show for our lunch meal, and 10:15 show for our dinner.

We had a really prime viewing spot. On Friday, we got in line for our spot around 8:15pm, and got right up to the railing - unobstructed view. Last night, we got there as the show was beginning, and so we had to stand behind other people.

It's a pricey meal, but worth it, in my opinion.

I had lunch there on the 15th as well and I have to say it IS an amazing place!! I was with a friend and we sat outside (although the reservation was for indoors, but it was fine). Had the Kobe Sliders and lemon pound cake for dessert and yes, very good! Its not something I would eat often, because I cant afford it lol, but it IS worth going if you have the money. My friend had the lamb and really enjoyed it. We got WOC tickets for 9 pm and had an AMAZING view so it was all worth it in the end.

I would say for people who cant afford the dinner, then do the lounge where you can share food and that place looks just as great as well!

On opening day, we had reservations at 11 AM for 4. My brother had the lamb, his friend and I each had the Campanelli pasta with Lamb and jus, and my dbf had the kobe sliders. I wasn't really sure what to expect about the pasta, and honestly it was a little too hotty-totty for my taste. We also had a glass of Lasseter wine (don't know what kind) and my brother's friend had a glass of scotch. The place is absolutely breath-taking and I felt very underdressed for the place even though many other diners were in casual wear as well. If you can get to your hotel/car to change, I recommend doing it because the meal deserves it. The kobe sliders were pretty good. And we also saw Andrew Sutton as well as the sous chef, Gloria.. something. Overall, the atmosphere was wonderful, the food is great if you have expensive taste, and be patient with the waiters throughout their opening days (ours was quite nervous), and you'll have a wonderful time.

Have never seen The World of Color & the whole thing is kind of confusing to me. I've seen the color coded pictures of the viewing areas. I just don't understand standing in a line to go stand somewhere else & maybe still not getting a good spot. We only have 3 nights. I think we'd like to try Carthay, so I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone by doing a WOC package. Especially if it gets you an even better viewing spot.

We were there for a preview dinner so don't know about WOC. The seating, in our area anyway, which is up a ramp on the level that lets out to the balcony, has the type of seating where you have your own table but the benches on one side run the length of the seating so you are sorta with other people but not..if that makes sense.
We had a sampling of 3 apps..the Heirloom Tomato, Watermelon Salad and Gorditas. They were fine, but I'm sure really pricey if we had to pay for each. The Gorditas were my favorite...not spicy at all. For the entree I had the angus filet with mushroom & grape sauce and Bleu cheese. Superb..I want to go back and have this again.There are no sides and the entrees are not overly huge which I liked. For dessert we had the Pie..and the Lemon pound cake..both were fine, but there was a lot going on then so really wasn't paying much attention to the food. I wish we could have tried the biscuits as those look great. I enjoyed the food there better than at Napa Rose..service is still developing and will hopefully get better. We also tried Lasseter wines..a Rose, Red and a dessert..all good. Yes, I'll return, but I don't know if doing the WOC thing is any better than the other places if they don't have a specific viewing area separate from other dining viewing areas.

Sounds like the WoC viewing for Cathay is nicer and not as crowded as the preferred viewing for Ariel's and WCT? We are going 7/12 and when I made the resizes, the CM said that the viewing was different than what we were use to with the other restaurants! Can't wait to try it!

DH and I ate at Carthay yesterday for lunch. We ordered the Carthay Circle biscuits with Apricot butter and the stuffed grape leaves for appetizers and DH ordered the Carthay Martini. The biscuits were the most bizarre and yet most amazing things I have ever had and DH and I used to eat at the Rose almost every trip before our son "Stitch" came along 4 months ago. It's not really a biscuit, but more of a crispy ball that is filled with gooey cheese and bacon and a light taste of jalapeno. So good. The grape leaves weren't my cup of tea, but DH liked them. The Carthay Martini was very good. I had a few sips of it and it was very good. And DH let me eat the olives. YUM!

For our entrees, I ordered the pasta with braised lamb and DH ordered the pasta with the chicken meatballs. Unfortunately just as our entrees arrived, "Stitch" woke up from his nap and he was very unhappy, so I took him downstairs and let DH eat and we switched once he was done. I was actually surprised at how warm my dish still was when I got back! DH said the meatballs were good, but his pasta was a little cold. My dish was very good with the lamb and the olives (i'm a big olive fan) but with the stress of "Stitch" freaking out, I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have otherwise. We also had to skip dessert which I was totally bummed about because Chef Sutton is a master at creating amazing desserts.

We were seated in the main coppola and it is just beautiful. The ceiling was painted with background art from Snow White. Just gorgeous and the whole place is very elegant.

We did not do WOC dining though, so I can't answer to that.

DH and I will definitely go to Carthay again, but only when it's just us or when "Stitch" is a little older.

I also forgot to mention that I had the Carthay Circle biscuits as well; ours were on the house. I told our waiter that I really wasn't fond of spicy, but she put an order in for us anyways. The cheesy, gooey-ness described above just about sums it up. If you can't handle a lot of spice (yes, I'm a spice scaredy cat) then don't worry about the biscuits, they taste wonderful! Just don't eat several in a row. I think our basket came with 7 biscuits, kind of an odd number.

The house bread given may have been too crusty for my taste. Butter is delicious, as they top it off with some sea salt. Be careful of one person deciding they want to take the whole butter slice because it can conveniently sit on one slice of house bread (*cough cough* my brother).

Ok, I have a question... DH and I are planning on dining at the Carthay in Sept. And we'll have our 2 little DS's in tow. If they're no longer offering the WOC preferred seating passes with the app/entree, entree/dessert purchase, then my question is completely irrelevant BUT... I was wondering if we dined at the Carthay and DH and I got the passes because we ordered entrees and the extras, would our kids be allowed to join us in the preferred seating or not (because they'd be ordering off the kids menu and splitting in all probability, too)? If not, it would certainly render the passes useless and most certainly affect what I order!

Unfortunately I don't have any photos. I had planned to take them after our meal, but with the baby getting upset, it just didn't happen.

We ate there on the 16th. It was absolutely amazing. The service was nothing less than the best and the food was amazing.

To top that off, with the WOC viewing, we had one person in a wheel chair and my wife and I can't stand for long periods of time, we showed up at 8:45, as instructed for the 9:00 show and they made sure that we were all in a place that we would be comfortable AND had a prime view. And I mean they bent over backwards (no, we didn't ask them to do that, they just did(. The service seems to be the same as in the restaurant.

To the OP, I would suggest asking about indoor seating when you get there. It might be a slightly longer wait in the lounge, but that is not a bad thing at all. The lounge is amazing in and of it's self. I am wondering if you can go in and just order some appetizers and a drink without eating in the restaurant. Since they seem to be accepting walk-ins, I would think you could get indoor seating and trust me, you want it.
