Who has eaten at BACKLOT EXPRESS (CS) in MGM?

I was just looking over the menus on allears and listed was a CS that I never seemed to notice before-Backlot Express in MGM. Any opinions?

We've eaten there a couple of times. It's tucked away between Indiana Jones & Star Tours so often missed. Nice-ish atmosphere inside, kinda backstage, props decor etc. Standard on-the-go food - chicken strips, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, fries, side-salad etc. but adequate for a half-hour stop during the day.

Ate there on the last trip and I really enjoyed it. They have a lot of seating both indoors and out. I had a cheeseburger and an icee it really hit the spot

I didnt notice i before either - - and I really didnt like aBC Commissary... I stumbled in, while waiting for my family and parents to join up with me (I ran to get FP they did a ride)

It was so quiet and "dead' inside... I got a beer for my dad, and waited, dad came, I went and got a beer for dh, and waited, I resuced dh (my mom kept getting lost!! lol) By the time mom got in, it was so crowded, with such long lines... WHAT HAPPENED??!!

It occured to me, the Indiana Jones is right around the corner, as soon as it let out, the lines converged!!

So for this place, timing is everything, but even when the lines come, they do a great job moving you through and there are a few condiment stations - maybe scope it out when you near Star Tours - do that... and Muppets etc... then eat!!

We found the Backlot express back in 2000 during our honeymoon. They use to have an awesome fixins' bar for your burgers...but they don't have it anymore. (See post below...as of October the fixin's bar has returned!! *YIPPEE*) We ate there last year for our Star wars weekends trip and it was one of our favorites. It is kind of hidden..so you have to look for it. ..and like the poster above said...timing is everything. It is most busy after the indy show.

My DH and I both LOVED the Grilled Turkey & Cheese with arugula and red peppers served with French fries or cranberry slaw $6.89. It was AMAZING!!! We didn't find any other resturant in WDW that had it.

just ate there a few days ago....was really quite nice for a counter service, both my dw and I had the turkey sandwiches...which were quite large.

This is the CS that we eat at when at MGM. We like the cheeseburgers and the grilled turkey/roasted red pepper sandwiches...

We always eat at the BE. The food is as good as any other counter service, and it's very large and air conditioned.

Backlot express has good food, but prepared to wait a looooooooong time. As another poster stated, if the IJ show is letting out it can be crazy. And btw we were there in Oct and they did have a fixins bar for your burgers. Really the only other regular CS for meals, that I know of in MGM is ABC commisionary and I don't recommend that at all.
