Just as soon as I can gather the money for a deposit, I am going to book a 3 night February 2004 cruise for myself, my husband and my two step-children, ages 10 and 13. I've got to get through the expense of Christmas and the recovery of my recent cruise. I'd love to do at least a 4 night and die for a 7 night, but our budget just doesn't allow for it with kids in tow. So a 3 night will have to suffice. Hey, it's better than nothing!

Just wondering what your February experiences were. Weather, water temp, etc. How would it compare to December or is it about the same? Are there more kids on the ship? (February school vacation).

Anyone else planning a February 2004 cruise?

We did a Feb '02 cruise (7 day Eastern). I think the Caribbean is going to be a bit warmer than possibly Nassau would be. We had great weather, high 80's in St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Calm seas, great times!!!

We cruised in late February 2002 - Eastern 7 nighter. Wonderful weather and calm seas. Much better weather than Indiana was having!!

But as I always say the worst day anywhere is still better than the best day I've ever had in Indiana.

Hoosier fan - NOT!

We did a 3 day cruise in '01 and a 4 day in '02. We had decent weather on both trips, with '01 being the better of the two. In fact, LOTS of people got sunburned at CC in '01 (us included!). Both trips were in mid-February. The water was too cold at CC for me to snorkel, but I had no problem just splashing around and playing with the inner tube in shallow water with my kids. It needs to feel like bath water for me to go in above my waist! There were plenty of other people who were snorkeling and swimming all day long.

Nassau was HOT in '01, but pretty mild in '02. It was nice enough for us to swim (we went to Atlantis) but it did cloud up mid-afternoon and felt a lot cooler than the year before. With a 10 and 13 year old, I would highly recommend that you visit Atlantis. My kids were 10 & 12 when we went last February and it was one of the highlights of their trip!

I wouldn't hesitate to book another February trip. We are hoping that our next cruise will be a 7-day in the summer of '04, and I'm worried it will be too hot! Go ahead and book your February trip and have a great time!

rae519....did you happen to be on the 2/23/02 cruise???? We were on that one!!

Yes!
WOW! Small world!

Even funnier - we were all on that cruise with when William (age 11) won the free 7 night cruise on the Who Wants to Be A Mousekeeteer show. William and his parents (Elaine and Bill) chose 9/28 and we were on that one also with them! Met them on the DIS Boards, then later at the DIScruisears party.

As the song goes, "It's a Small, small world".

And by the way, I'm originally from New York - born in Monticello, raised in Woodbourne, later Coxsackie - went to college in Albany - then was USAF for years.

You can't take the New Yorker out of New York, even when they have to reside elsewhere.

Rae....that kid William was so funny. He was like a little man! One night at the pin trading in the lobby (he was quite the pin trader...even had the pin vest with a zillion pins on it) we were talking and I was looking over his pins. I was so impressed with him that I "gave" (no trade involved) an exclusive pin from WTC 9/11. He was so surprised that I gave it to him, but it made me feel so good to see the look on his face. I was so happy when I saw him win at Millionaire!!!
