I know this is like comparing apples and oranges, but we have never eaten at either place. I have looked at both menus, and I feel pretty comfortable with the selections at CP. I am totally new to Scandinavian food so I am a little ambivalent about the menu. Was just wondering if anyone had the same feelings but went with an open mind and was pleased?

Hi, this is my first post so I hope that I can help.

Last year I took my GF to Akershus to try the food out for the first time and she really liked the food and environment. My favorite part of the cold buffet was the smoked salmon, but there were alot of selections of meat and cheeses. I got the the Veneson for dinner which was dry, but edible to a certain extent. My GF got the cod which was pretty good. The service was very good too, our waitor was friendly and gave us alot of information on the food. The princess dinner was not really our thing, but we enjoyed talking to them none the less.

Two things I remember about this dinner was :
1) How full I was at the end (too much of the cold buffet)
2) The drinks were good!

I hope this helped

Better food, CP hands down. Better character interaction...Akershus...

If you are leery about the food go to the breakfast instead..we did that and everyone was happy with the "normal" food.

My family is verypicky. We ate at Akershus in May and absolutely loved it. The service was good, characters interaction was great, the cold buffet had many choices of breads, meats and cheeses. The kid's menu is "normal." My husband got the short ribs and I got the pasta. Both were excellent. The desserts were very enjoyable.

i recently had lunch at akershus and dinner at crt. i had the pasta akershus and loved it. the chicken was incredible.

i had the 4 cheese tortellini or whatever at crt. it was good. i probably preferred akershus though

We have been twice and really love Akershus. :goodvibes The cod and horseradish potatoes are great. I like it much better with the cold buffet. I think that they had fruit on it which was great for dd. DH LOVES the rice pudding. The princesses were great!

If you want to try akershus but are put off by the food, try it as a breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast there but were to worried to attempt a lunch/dinner with our very picky ds4 and dd6. We absolutely love lunch and dinner at cp but have never had breakfast there.

We have eaten at both restaurants, but the family and I love CP better. :) I hope that helps.

Im not really able to say which is better as ive only ate at CP, but the Crystal Palace is my favorite place to eat in all of WDW.To me its the only place I still feel that we our getting our moneys worth.

Akershus is one of only a few restaurants that we havent ate at yet. Im not sure if we will ever go there.

We ate at both last month - Akershus for lunch and CP for dinner. Whole family enjoyed both of them, even picky DD6. At Akershus she found plenty on the cold buffet she liked, then the kids entree was good. DS9 likes more grown-up food and thoroughly enjoyed the choices.

That being said, CP had better food. Better than your typical buffet. We were all painfully stuffed. Character interaction was harder, primarily because the Pooh characters needed more breaks than the princesses did, so a lot of time was taken up by them leaving then coming back out again and finding where they left off.
