According the Theresa Heinz Kerry, we need to be thinking of "security in brader terms than bombs and terror. "Seldom do we think of security in terms of one's job, one's health care benefits, education".

So what do you have to look forward to?
1. Health care for every America from day one. Period!
2. Every student in America will be provided with four years of college tuition in exchange for two years of community service and a $4000 tax credit for college tuition they pay.

My question is; How much is all of this FREE STUFF going to cost?
When small businesses (those earning over $200,000) and taxpayers who earn over $200,000 are taxed at higher rates, who will provide the jobs that run the economy?

In both cases, the answer, of course, is taxpayers ;)

I was wondering the same thing about the $3 trillion in proposals Bush made at the Republican National Convention.

On the spending side, Bush could definately be more conservative. I don't think we needed the perscription drug plan that we got, but it will be easier to pay for than the one the democrats would have pushed through. On national defense, I don't think that there can be any skimping.

Regardless of which candidate is coming up with the idea, the taxpayer gets the bill.

If we can afford the Bush deficit (which is getting bigger, not smaller), then we can afford this, too, right?

We can operate in deficit spending when our national security is at stake. The last thing we can do is to create another entitlement program which will never get smaller. So no, I don't think we can afford bigger government.

Bush is the least fiscal conservative president that we have had since Carter.

And you think that Kerry would be more fiscally conservative? Not a chance!

Its a bad thing, healthcare for all Americans? Its a bad thing, to trade off community service for a college education?

Of course, to those who have a health plan, and those who can afford college, these proposals will simply eat into their tax cuts they have already received. But, for the rest of America, they would be a good idea.

We can spend a couple hundred billion in Iraq, build Iraq's roads, hospitals, schools, police dept. fire dept. infrastructure, educational system, political system, etc., and its ok to go from a surplus of a couple hundred billion to a deficit of 400+ billion, but its not ok to talk about helping out those in this country who need help.

Of course, to the Bushies, its all about me, me me, and nothing about helping those who are less firtunate. Funny how the party that the Christian right has aligned itself with is actually the party that, with the exception of abortion, implements policies which go against the teachings in the bible--love others as you love yourself.

Yes, I do as a matter of fact. But its our Republican controlled congress that is the problem.

DawnCt1--You are not saying that the deficit and the growth of the Govt. since Bush took over is due to the war on terror, era you. Bush has not vetoed a bill, he has not trimmed budgets, except for cutting out things like policemen, and govt has grown since Bush moved to Washington. It is not a terror related event. It is a Bush policy to reward those who help him. i.e., drug companies, insurance companies, KBR, etc.

Above someone said take those tax breaks away, and jobs will be lost. Like the tax breaks are causing such a rebound in the jobless market. Bush is still the only president since Hoover who will have a net loss of jobs on his watch. Of course, those people should be tahnkful for those tax cuts, and of course, for the money that has flowed into their health care and educational opportunities. Opps, sorry, I was thinking of the Iraq unemployed.
