Who felt the Earthquake??

I'm in Lakewood. It gave us a nice jolt, but no damage. They're saying now it was farther north, near Hawthorne.

My son, daughter, son's girlfriend, & I were eating dinner (belated Mom's Day) at a PF Changs in El Segundo when the earthquake hit. There was a waitress there who held her arms straight out to the side and loudly said, "Everyone keep still!" I think that helped calm people. The hanging lights swung for quite awhile. After sitting still to make sure it didn't get bigger everyone resumed eating as normal. I told my kids it felt like a 5, but wasn't sure since I didn't know where the epicenter was -- I was pretty darn close, lol.

We live about 15 miles southeast by freeway, in Carson, and things had fallen & broken at my house, so it must have been a lot more 'joltier' where I live than in El Segundo.

Last summer a 5.4 shut down DLR rides for most of the day. We were in the DLR bank buying our APs. As you can imagine, the lines to eat suddenly got much longer. Being lunch time didn't help. As the afternoon continued you would hear a big cheer coming from somewhere in the park which meant a ride just reopened.

We didn't really feel it in Burbank, a bout 25 miles away. I heard a little rattling from a couple different place in the room and thought, I wonder if we are having an earthquake?

One time in about 2000 there was a quake when we had a friend over who is a SoCal native (I moved here in '97). After 10 or 20 seconds of shaking, she held still for about a minute before relaxing. She said when the Northridge quake happened there was a little shake, a pause, and then the big one hit, so she always waits to see if there is more.

Felt it in Newport Coast! Just got in from Northern Cal for a week vacation. It made lots of noise at first. Called my DD, who was on her way to the spa, and she didn't feel a thing. She has never felt one. We lived for decades in the SF bay area so we were used to them. (if you can ever get use to an earthquake) Living in Sacramento area we just don't have them (or feel them) there.
Sure reminded me on 1989.....now that we felt......:scared:
