Who feels like a threadkiller - Take 4!

Hiya threadkillers!

Robin - sounds like you are busy, busy, BUSY! I'm sorry you're having problems with the border crossings. If the price was the same - I'd stay in a hotel and avoid the headache!

Kim - I hope all goes well with your mom. I dunno what to tell you about the switch in hospitals. At this point, I would think ANY set of fresh eyes would be a good thing. I hope her tests go smoothly - unfortunately it seems to be standard procedure to release early these days.

Well, it's going to be sad news. Tom and I have decided to put poor Holly out of her misery. She was at the vet twice this week with problems and they were able to determine that her blood sugar IS under control, but she's still having accidents. As many as 5 but usually around 2-3 a day. She is also having difficulty using her back legs. Not all the time, but every once in a while, they slip out from under her.

Anyway, the two vets are going to consult and we should get a call from them tomorrow. I'm guessing they are going to tell us what we already know - she's either in kidney or renal failure. We were hoping to give her extra time and maybe wait til July, but it may be as early as next week. I'll keep you posted.....but it's not looking good.

Honestly Robin, after ALL this time, none of us know why-anything anymore! :confused3 Either these Drs are total idiots, or there's something missing, that Mom & Dad won't tell us? :confused3 I don't think it's either tho, really. She's already gone to 1 other hospital - no diagnosis, sent home. :sad2: The dehydration is from the constant diarrhea, which causes her BP to go so low. She drinks gatorade all the time, at home, WHEN she's home, but she has no appetite, so we have no clue what the diarrhea is even FROM! :headache:

WOW Robin, busy weekend for you, and travel decisions as well. I'd hate to be stuck waiting anywhere up to 5 hours! Have fun tho!

Love to read the dancing news! You go, Girl!

Ann, I'm soooo very sorry! :sad1:  I honestly don't know what else to say. I know how hard this is. :sad1:

Good news - Kelly passed 2 levels in skating Thursday!!!! She went from Freestyle 1 to Freestyle 3 just like that! 1 test, given by the HEAD of the rink, and she passed Kelly 2 levels! Thank you Coach Julie!!! We had a mini-celebration outside tonight on the porch when Julie got home, with Julie in-the-street, literally jumping up & down! It was hysterical! :rotfl2: (Julie can't do that at the rink with Kelly, because it's too personal and unprofessional). :rolleyes1 Kelly did this with only 3 weeks of FS1 classes, AND private lessons from Julie of course, but to achieve this SO FAST is truly amazing! So proud of her! :goodvibes I won't bore you with ALL the details, but Kelly was taking FS1 classes from 1 instructor, and has private lessons from Julie, but a 3rd person - the HEAD of the rink, is the one that tested Kelly! So, this is NOT just Coach Julie favortism! :thumbsup2 As a matter of fact, Julie & I OFTEN discuss our different relationships. I'm like HER 2nd mom, and she my 'adopted' daughter, she's also friend/babysitter/neighbor. But, when it comes to skating, she is coach - and strictly coach - I don't question anything there, and our friendship has NEVER made any difference in Kelly's progress - that is all Kelly's progress, with COACH Julie's help. :thumbsup2 ----- SORRY for bragging! :sad2:

:grouphug: to all!

What exciting news Kim. Sounds like Kelly is moving her way quickly to the top.

She is definitely a talented girl, all the way around it seems:cool1:

Ann, I am so sorry.

Thanks Robin. :goodvibes

Ann, any news? :confused3

My Mom is back home again - for how long, who knows? She had 4 tests done Thursday - endoscopy, MRI & CT scan, and something else I can't remember, and then they sent her home, drugged and compliant. :sad2:

 all!! :grouphug:

Hey everyone!

Kim - I hope your mother stays comfortable after the drugs wear off. I'm sorry it's been such a frustrating journey for you.

I'm thinking of you my threadkiller friends!

Hi Kim,

She's about the same. I had originally put on there that she was doing a bit better, but it was simply a bright moment for her. She went 24 hours without an accident, but started up again last night.

We haven't heard from the vet, but we're going to call Monday for an appt to put her out of her misery. I expect - if we can - we'll be putting her down on Tuesday.

I'm sorry I didn't post anything...there wasn't a whole lot of change - so not a lot to post.

Thanks for asking - you're a sweetie!

Hi all.

I have returned.

I hope those tests show something for your mom Kim.

Ann, I was thinking of you and Holly today.

Thanks, Robin. If we can get an appt...Tuesday will be the day. How was the weekend?

Kim - how is your mother now that the meds have worn off?

Thinking of you my friends!

Ann, you are in for one tough week, my friend.:guilty:

The weekend was okay for the most part.

Late last night I heard these sirens going off and was wondering what in the heck it was.

It was the tornado sirens. We don't have those here.

Of course we weren't exactly sure which county we were in but I had a Michigan map, so we could check it out.

We all went out and had a look around and "nailed" down whatever we could and put into the trailers other things (like expensive model airplanes).

Then eventually we were driven inside when the rains started. It got really nasty but we all made it thru okay. A few pop-up sun shades were lost to the wind but everything (and everybody) else survived.

We were in a group of people camping in the middle of nowhere as usual, some up at the top of a hill (tenters) and others, like us with larger campers down in a valley of sorts. One of our friends in a tent actually came down and stayed with us in the trailer since he had water in his tent before the main storm even came through.

It brought up the interesting discussion of what exactly tornado sirens mean:confused3 And how do you know when they sound the all-clear. I heard the sirens at least 3 times.

Also where would we have gone if we had needed to find shelter.

Right directly behind where we were there was an abandoned loading area of sorts. There was a road that leads down behind a concrete wall and it is very deep in the ground. It would have been way way over my head deep.

Thankfully we did not need it but it seems everytime we go to this particular place there are a lot of storms.

Edited to add: Ann, remember our friends Ted and Joy that you met in January? They were camping right next to us. I told Joy about Holly and she sends her wishes along too.

Good Monday everyone.

It's a chilly, windy Monday here.

I've not done a lot of anything today but hung around at home.

I have dance class tonight though.

There is a thread here on the Community Board about dance recitals. Apparently there are quite a lot of people who don't want to watch "old people" dance at recitals:confused3 They are there to see their children dance, not us oldtimers.

It never occurred to me that people would rather not watch my adult class dance at recitals. My mommy comes to the recital to watch her child dance but I guess that doesn't count :rotfl2:

Ah well, can't please everybody, that's what I always say.

ooooo, Kim, I just noticed your ticker :woohoo::woohoo:

Not too long now before you are headed off to the most magical place on earth.

I sure wish that I could meet you there.

Have a great time.

Our Hollydog is gone. She went without pain and very peacefully. Thank you my Threadkiller friends for always being there for me...

:sad1:

I'm so sorry Ann.

Holly was such a sweetheart.

She will be greatly missed.

How are your parents dealing with this because I know how very much they loved Holly too.

:guilty::grouphug:

Dad & Dean are heart broken (as is Tom).... when they left for the summer, Holly was well and she went downhill so quickly it was a shock for them. Fortunately, they know we did our best by her.

Thanks for your kind words......

I am sure that they are heart broken.

Holly was like a grandchild for them.

Pish Posh Robin! The older groups dance BETTER!!! :cool1: You DO what you do, and do NOT stop! :thumbsup2 Honestly, watching ALL THOSE 3 yr old ballerinas annoys me! (DO NOT copy this to their thread - LOL!) My niece Zoe, is NOT a 3yr ballerina, as you know. :cheer2:

Thank you!!!! I am SOOO expecting a call the DAY we leave that Mom is back in the hospital - isn't this repetitive??? :rolleyes1 Haven't talked to her or Dad since Fri a.m., when I think I got too aggressive with her about her Drs, or lack thereof, and we suddenly got disconnected - hmmmm? :rolleyes1 I'm pretty sure NO ONE will call me while I'm there, but it'll bother me nonetheless. Rory's wife is who I tell everything to, but if I'm not here, I don't think they'll call Rory at all. DYSfunction at its best, right here in Chicago! :sad1: Besides MOM'S problems! :sad2:

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I can't possibly {{HUG}} you enough Ann, to make up for losing Holly! :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Good chilly morning all.

Kim, I hope that you don't get any calls before you go.

You could always try to call your parents while you are in Florida and see what is up but you might like the answer and then it would ruin your vacation.

We seem to have an unwritten rule in this family. No bad news while someone is on vacation, especially if there is nothing they can do about it from where there are.

About the dancing and the recitals, I am definitely going to keep that up, no problem, don't care what anyone thinks. I told the ladies at dance class last night about it and you should have seen their faces :lmao:

Ann 's for you this morning again.

Where have all the rest of the threadkillers gone:confused3
