Okay -THAT'S funny! What makes it even funnier (to me) is my sister's used to describe me as "Martha Stewart....with a gun". I used to shoot pistols competitively AND bake...which they thought was hilarious! You crack me up!

Hi all. Nothing new to report here either...

I got my list of jobs to apply to and my short list of errands to run~

It's been a week since Mika passed, the house still feels empty - and I swear Penny is having a hard time with it. It's hard to know for sure since she don't talk

Ann, I look forward to my private show - just have no idea when I'll make it back to Jacksonville. I'd really like John to meet you guys~I think Betsy and Mike are still the only threadkillers he's met so far. (He's met Aisling too actually, but she's only a lurker here )

My grass is too brown to bother with our lawn guy right now. It's so crispy, I never water it - but ran the sprinkler just so it won't hurt my feet.

Well, if all you guys have lawn guys then I've got to get me some

Colleen, we've had such a wet summer here that the grass never died.

Most summers we have a brown and crunchy lawn, not this year.

Our Lawn Guy comes cheap and does a great job~

He charges $25 and cuts, edges and cleans the grass up.

John's talking about having him come over and cut the dead grass, I suggested that our guy didn't need our $25 *that* bad

You know, it's not so much that I don't like to cut the grass but for some reason I never get motivated to cut it often enough

Every year I swear I'm going to find me someone to cut the grass and I never do it.

Although at the beginning of this summer, Liz's boyfriend John did it for me for about a month.

Then he moved away and Liz left for the summer and now they are not together anymore.........

So......... it's back to me cutting the grass again

CADZ - You're almost ready for your cancer walk! I know it will be incredibly rewarding...we'll be thinking of you!

Have any of ya'll seen Tropic Thunder? That was such a FUNNY movie! I sat in the theatre and laughed and snorted (sorry - I'm one of those that snorts when she laughs) along with the entire audience. I'm taking DH to see it next week - he has no choice in the matter *sigh* I just love it when he caves!

Anyway, hope you're having a great night. I was going to Orlando for the rest of the week, but decided to stay home because of the (somewhat slim) possibility of being affected by the hurricanes. If Hannah takes a small westward jog, it has a chance of hitting Jacksonville and I'd rather be home taking care of business. I'm going for a day on the 17th and then I'll go again the week of the 22nd....so no huge loss.

Brenda, could you do me a small HUGE favor and add Mika to your list of those your run is dedicated to. She is the first I've lost to cancer since John and I lost our grandmothers to lung and brain cancer back in 87/88. That's a blessedly long time to go without being affected by such a horrible disease.

I have a lawn guys too We pay $30 a week ..mow, edge, weeding, and trimming bushes..

I hate working in the yard these days.. too hot.. I feel so sorry for them but they look like they like it. Plus it takes them about 15 mins where it would take me HOURS to do everything they do

Colleen, Dante was telling me about his teachers dog who has cancer also. She just fiinished chemo. I don't know much about it but it reminded me of your Mika.

It's been super hot here lately, hovering around 100º.

I guess now that it is September that summer has arrived full force

I wanted to check in and let you all know that I am off again for the weekend.

We will be leaving around 2 this afternoon. We are headed for Montreal this time.

It is a long drive, about 10 hours and we are taking the van not the trailer. We will be staying in motels. We plan on driving about halfway there tonight and finishing up the drive tomorrow morning.

We normally would not go so far for a competiton but there is a couple (man and woman who both fly, the woman is fantastic by the way) from Montreal that come to all of the competitions in Ontario.

We felt it was time that we supported THEIR competition. So we are off.......

Guess I should have brushed up on my french before we left

Just in case I don't get back on before I leave, have a great weekend everyone. I'll be back either late on Sunday or possibly sometime on Monday.

Thank you Cally I thought I would've been more prepared having thought we lost Mika a couple times during the treatment, but I wasn't. I actually have a puppy picture of her sleeping wrapped in a blanket that I have a hard time looking at since that was how I saw her last. I would always lay with her with my hand on her heart and just feel her breathe. I had to do that one more time at the vet - it hurt so much to not feel her chest move She looked so peaceful wrapped up in the quilt they put her in for us to see her one last time.

Thanx for the heads up DU...alls I'm hearing is we're supposed to have a rainy weekend~It's been a really long time since one has hit us close enough for me to worry.

I hope you have a great weekend, Robin! It's awfully nice to hear from you again, Cally. How's Roger? I agree, it's TOO hot to do lawn work way down south!

TW & all the northern dwelling thread killers - ya'll take care with Hannah - she'll be moving fast, but she'll be quite a storm when she heads north!

I just returned from stocking up on extra water, diet sodas & canned meats. I'm not worried about Hannah, but I think Ike will give us fits. I'd rather be wrong and over stocked than right and fighting the crowds for supplies! I'll get cookies & potato chips at the last minute!

I'm headed to Mary's today. Her boys are marching in the band for the first time tonight and I'm SO excited to see them.

Sorry I have been MIA today....
Beside it being my Thurs. ...I got a call from a friend who wants help planning a WDW vaca, for Dec...

So I have been in research mode....
She is having a hard time finding a good deal on her flights, and Im not much help as I havent flown in over ten years...

BUT Ive been looking for discounts for her...about the only thing I can think of right now for discounts is AAA....
But I have been gone all day...so Im off to see what I can find out for her....
