Good news ... Mike took today off...So he gets a four day weekend
Bad news.....We have no plans for this holiday weekend....
Probably do work for the house and yard...IF the weather is better then it is right now...

My sister just called from AZ. ( she had just moved there last year to be close to her son/DIL/granddaughter )the other day and told me shes in the hosp. ...Had a heart attack....Shes ok now..but had an artery that was 95% clogged....They put a stint in and she is home now...
BUT..I hated that she was so far away..and I couldnt do anything for her...

So does anyone else have any big plans for this weekend?.....

Penny seems to be looking for Mika to come home~

John and I are already talking to the Akita rescue about getting a new puppy. John wants a girl. He's still the biggest mess over all of this and her being gone has honestly has left a huge hole in our world.

I am taking some blankets over to the vet - when we went in to see Mika for the last time I was very grateful for the blanket they had her wrapped in. She looked so comfortable and peaceful in it. We have tons of extra blankets that I had no idea (up til that point) what I was gonna do with them. I refuse to throw them out and they weren't in any shape for people to use.

Mika's doctor tried to call us that night, she was treated by someone else when she passed. I tried to see if I could get a minute with him but he is off again today. They set it up so he'll call me tomorrow.

Cally - I'm SO happy about your news. Congratulations! I had my first lump removed at 21, so I KNOW how scared you were!

DalPal - I'm sorry to hear about your sister. I hope her recovery is easy and complete.

TW - that was SO nice of you to take the blankets to the vet. I imagine they really appreciate them. Good luck with the Akita Rescue and give Penny a kiss from Hollydog.

I wasn't on yesterday because I was recovering from the trip. We had a GREAT time and stayed up to 2am playing Uno in the lobby of the hotel - this hotel had a GREAT lobby. All kinds of different seating groups, tables & chairs, couches and lamps - real actual lamps! It was like they had a dozen living rooms in the lobby and an indoor creek/waterfall running through the entire thing. Anyway, we had 2 ladies join us around midnight to play - both of them parole officers!

We had dinner at the Caddyshack restaurant (owned by Bill Murray) and I had a drink called "The Back 9". I don't know what it was, but it was delicious and POTENT! I also had a Cosmopolitain, a Gin & Tonic and wine during the course of the evening. So....I think I had a hangover! I've never been an over indulgence type, so I'm not sure. I had a headache, was REALLY tired and didn't eat until the afternoon....sound about right? Oh well, it was WORTH IT! We had tons-o-fun!

Today, DH & I are going to Five Guys Burgers. We decided not to go out on Labor Day or do anything elaborate...we wanted a burger instead - and this is the best burger joint I've ever been to....even better than In-n-Out Burgers and that's saying something!

Sunday I'm going to make home-made Pasta....Ravioli stuffed with fresh mozarella, proscuitto, sundried tomatoes & basil. I'll just drizzle olive oil on them and shaved parmesan - I think the flavors will be enough to skip a heavy sauce. That's the extent of my cooking for the weekend.

We must have a storm coming, I turned to pass on Hollydog's kiss and found Penny hiding behind the commode. (Yes, it sounds like you had a hangover. Mixing that much liquor with wine may have done you in )

I am always looking for beneficial ways to get rid of things when they've outlived their use here. Mika's vet has signs out for towels and I have already taken a batch of those over. As I said about the blankets, seeing them use one for Mika gave me a great place to give 15 quilts to. Literally! We've got stuff that goes back to when the kids were little. There is always furniture, picture frames and knick knacks and clothing out back waiting to be donated. Catholic Charities gets most of it because my sister works there and can deliver the kayrap for me.

John's decided to have a "down" weekend as well. He cancelled our dinner date and is coming home for bbq and movies with me. Monday, we'll bbq with my sister. That's it. That's our whole weekend~

Actually - I have a friend coming over to work on her Oct-Nov WDW trip itinerary with me tomorrow morning. I bought a kid's birnbaum's book for her today off the clearance rack at our Disney store. She's taking her DDs, 8 & 6yo. She's using a TA for her trip so my job is to get her to pick her restaurants (I know - this shoulda been done already) for her dining plan and then get her TA to book em for her. So far, the only thing written into her itinerary is going to MK the first night to see Spectro and Wishes. (She's got length of stay passes so she's good using one the first night.)

I feel bad for my aunt. She also buried her other son 19 years ago.

Now here is the scary thing ...out of all my male cousins.....NONE made it to 50!!!!!!!
Guess who is the oldest male cousin now???????

I had 4 older male cousins, one died @ 38, one @ 42, One @ 31 and one @ 49!

So should I start freakin or what!!!! I figure I have 31 more years till I hit 50!

However I am a compared to them. At least I think so!!!!!

Wow! That is scary! What did all these cousins die of? And I know you are always taking care of everyone else....please make sure you take time to take care of yourself too! Don't freak, just make sure you visit your doctor every year and take your doctor's advice!

We had an end of summer dinner party last night. Adults only. It was a beautiful night so we set up Tiki torches and candles throuout the back yard and had the party outside. including Dh and I there were 15 of us. We had bruschetta, a cheese and fruit plate and bagueetes with tapanade for appetizers;tequila lime chicken, steak teriyaki, sausage and peppers, penne pasta salad, mozzerra and tomato salad, grilled veggies for dinner and cake, brownies and peach ameretto bars for dessert. ALso made frozen mgaritas and had wine, beer and mixed drinks! We had sucha great time. I'm tired today tho! THe earliest couple left at 11:30 because they were going to the Penn State game today and had to leave at 5:00am! Last guests left at about 2:00. I guess that means we had a successful party. I had a great time. Just a few friends and the neighbors...it was very relaxed.

Today I have to put in my work hours at a pool/tennis place we beloing too. We keep the prices down by co-oping. Each family has to put in 8 hours a year in time to different jobs. Dh is mowing e softball field and I am working at the gate today to fulfill our obligation. I think is out last year joining though, because the kids just don;t use the pool like they used to. Even though it is only $300 a year with the co-oping, I think they only used it 3 times this summer. I don't think $100.00 a visit is really in my price range for a swim!

been a busy week at work....last night was the HS Football Jamboree - gotta say our St Francis Sharks are looking GOOD!!!!

Today i'm cleaning house...laundry & whatever other domestic duties i can find
tomorrow i run the 10K Human Race & having all of Dale's family here for his BD BBQ

Monday i will walk my required miles & then i really hope/plan to start on the Italy album
