Hi Betsy....your poor leg! I hope you do okay - tomorrow you might be stiff!

Well, we're expecting the rains to start hammering us in about 30 minutes or so. It's been raining off-and-on all day, but not too bad. I'm currently charging everything we can charge in case we lose power, phones, kindle, batter packs, etc.

Our son called while we were getting last minute essentials - sodas, milk & cookies. He told us that was NOT hurricane supplies. I explained that water, canned goods, batteries, gas for the generator & propane we ALWAYS keep in stock starting June 1st, the cookies were ESSENTIAL!

Betsy - have you thought of getting your mom a portable CD player and some audio books? If she doesn't read, that might be an option.

Well, gotta scoot. Ya'll take care!

Hope you aren't too stiff and sore tomorrow Betsy.

Ann, good luck with your storms.

I agree, cookies are an essential part of a hurricane supply stash ::yes::

:scratchin Why should today be any different :confused3

A boy can dream!:headache:

Du,
Hope ya can cope:hug: .....
How are your parents doing?...Is your moms leg any better?

Hi Everyone!

DU - I'm sorry I didn't say anything last night...I hope your day is better today. Your offer of cheesedoodles & ice-tea to DalPal was SO sweet! James sounds like a busy guy.

DalPal - I'm glad your leg is better. Be careful anyway. Take the day off and milk this for all it's worth!

Robin - How is Alex's friend in WDW? Is he still there? The storm is stuck right now and I think Orlando is finally getting some rain.

CADZ - thanks for your wishes on Holly. She's doing MUCH better. No bleeding any more and her limping is much improved. She's still napping a lot - but what dog doesn't!

Hiya TW! How is Mika doing? Hollydog says hello to Mika (and everyone else!).

Well, the storm is stuck and we didn't get the overnight rain. DH and I were able to go out for b'fast - because we just know we're gonna be stuck today. The rains have started to arrive and it's windy. Nothing earth shattering, but it should be here anytime and we expect it for about 36 hours. I spoke to Mary and she closed her library for the week - they are supposed to get hammered. I bought Twilight on my Kindle and I suspect I'll probably read the 2nd book in the series - so far the first is good...so I'm all set!

DU - I'm sorry I didn't say anything last night...I hope your day is better today. Your offer of cheesedoodles & ice-tea to DalPal was SO sweet!
..AND ALEVE!:lmao:

Betsy ~ what about framing some family photos - old and new- and labeling the back of the frames to help her remember who is who. You could use pictures from her childhood, your childhood, your kids when they were little and her great grandchildren now. Take care of that knee.OUCH!

DU ~ I love cheesedoodles...I would take medicine for cheesedoodles!:thumbsup2 I hope James saved some time for homework!:scared1: BUt good for him, I think it's great that he signed up for so many things. If it's too much he can pick and choose hisfavorites!

Colleen, I hope you are having a great time.

Ann and Mary stay safe an dry! (SOrry to sound like a commercial for deodorant, but I know you know what I mean;) )

Brenda~ Ya ready for a nap yet? I know you've been up a long time now!:goodvibes

Hi Robin~any competitions this weekend?

Ann, it is Alex who is in WDW right now with his girlfriend, Stephanie.

He has sent me a few text messages.

Yesterday was quite rainy.

This morning was rainy for a bit then turned warm and muggy.

They are having fun anyways.

Yes PD, there is a competition this weekend in Jackson, Michigan.

We will be leaving tomorrow afternoon sometime.

Actually between last weekend and the end of September when we go on our cruise there is a competition EVERY weekend :faint:

DU, it does sound like James will be a busy guy.

It is much better that he keep busy though. Keeps them out of trouble and involved in life that way.

We've got a fairly warm and muggy day here today ourselves.

I'm going outside to enjoy some of it.

:wave2:

Sorry, Robin! I don't know why, but I thought it was a friend of his that was in WDW. They're getting some rain today! Sounds like you & Rick will be as busy as James with all the competitions. Do you plan to attend every one of them? Or just pick and choose?

I think that we will be attending all of those competitions with the possible exception of one.

Most of them are within 2 hours of home, so that's not so bad.

I spend most of the weekend being lazy while I'm at a competition.

I sit around and do puzzle books or read a book.

I don't mind going at all ;)

Sounds lovely to me! I like lazy weekends away from home!

A question for the Disney experts.

When you stay onsite at a Disney resort, do you have to pay to park your car at the Parks?

I'm thinking that I remember that you don't have to pay, just show your resort parking permit.

Rick does think you have to pay.

So, I'm looking to you guys for the correct answer.

Hi All...okay..what the heck are cheesedoodles??????

PD...I HAVE been up for a long time 16.5 hrs now...& wishing i could go to bed..but waiting for DS to get home from football practice as we need to run to grocery store to pick up a few things for the week-end...his dgf will be coming here - we're all going to UC Davis on Sat for campus tour....

Ann - Stay dry & have fun reading....how fun....chocolates, cookies, books & a storm....:cool1:

DU....be careful what you wish for.....now that Ryan has started his senior year....it truly seems like just last year he was starting his freshman year....:sad2:

I can't possibly catch up!!! I miss you all, I read often, I just don't post. :sad2:

My Aunt passed away last week, 57yo. Memorial was Monday. :sad1:

My Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer, had the cancer removed, and will begin radiation soon.

Enough bad news? I think so!

Oh wait - 1 more - SCHOOL STARTS NEXT WEEK!!! I'm NOT READY!! :scared1: Another summer too short!!! I go back to work 9/3. < that's actually GOOD NEWS, that I have a job, again!! Just part-time, but enough. :)

We have been very busy this summer! As usual! As you ALL have been, too!!

1st - Kelly is going to be a Chicago Cubs Celebrity Batkid next Friday, the 29th! It probably WON'T be on TV tho :sad1: , because the broadcast that day isn't on WGN, but it's a THRILL nonetheless! We have to be there at 10AM for a 1:20 game! All her 'duties' happen before the game. She gets to go IN THE DUGOUT and watch batting practice. She gets a jersey, cap, certificate and autographed baseball. Her name will be announced on the PA, and her name will show on the scoreboard. The day can not get here soon enough - for me!! EVERYONE at school registration was SOOO excited for her, even her White Sox-fan Principal! :rotfl: I quizzed her on players, and she knew all but 2 coaches - by face, number and name! I'm soo proud! :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

She was also busy this summer finishing softball, and taking ice skating and clarinet lessons. To name a few.

We went to Starved Rock, IL (with blamemysister and family), Wis Dells, WI twice (with Rory's DD), and several Cubs games so far (most with Rory's DD as well!), as well as Six Flags Great America and Kiddieland amusement parks.

We had Girl Scouts, block parties, picnics, and wakes/funerals to attend as well. When Kelly saw a 'blank' day on the calendar, she always asked, "what are we doing tomorrow?". Sometimes, rarely, I actually said "NOTHING"! Which really meant laundry :laundy: , shopping, NAPPING, etc.

And Matt had 2 Big Screen popcorn:: movie showings so far! His first movie won 4 awards!! The 2nd, we don't know results yet. The thrill of seeing your son's name as DIRECTOR on the BIG SCREEN tho, brought tears to my eyes each time! He also filmed a movie this summer at Kelly's school, with Kelly as an 'actress'. She ALMOST gets hit by a car, when the lame crossing guard 'saves' her. It took several hours just to film that one part. My niece, blamemysister's DD, also did a cameo in another movie of Matt's. He has been very busy this summer. :thumbsup2 He also attended the Chicago film premiere of Dark Knight, as part of his school being a sponsor for the night - he was 'working it'. He got to attend the Red Carpet arrivals, 'direct' the interviews of the stars, etc. He was THRILLED! :cool1:

That is a BRIEF summary of our summer.

Back to school :teacher: next week. :scared:

The upcoming activities include band, ice skating, Girl Scouts and Cross Country for Kelly - for the 1st quarter. Matt will get 2 weeks off before going back to school in early/mid Sept. I'm sure he'll work at the theater when he's not in school.

(Robin, and anyone else I may have been emailing this summer, I apologize for the repeat news) ;)

I DO read, just not everyday. :guilty: Miss ya all!!! :grouphug:  :goodvibes :lovestruc :grouphug: :wizard:
