Who feels like a Thread-Killer?

Good luck to both of you!

Jamsmom, I'll be sending pixie dust wishes your way today at 4 and Philaround, send them to you on Saturday.

When they ask for references, just give them the disboard address and let us do the rest. We won't even bring up the fact that neither of you can kill a thread, though.

Last post for a few days. I have my job interview in 4 hours then me & DW are off to Vermont for her family re-union. They claim there will be over 500 people at this thing from almost all 50 states. They have been working on this thing for almost 2 years.

We'll be back sometime Monday P.M.

Save this thread until I get back

Hello, everyone. Hope the weekend has been great for you all.

back from my DW's family reunion. All went well but it was rather chilly and very windy in Vermont all weekend, but after the heat and humidity we've been having it felt pretty good.

I had my job interview just before we left CT Saturday morning. I thought the interview had gone quite well and it appears I was right. There was a message on my machine when we got home that says I got the job if I want it. It is only part time to start because they don't hire full time from outside. Everyone starts as part time and get to post for full time positions after they complete a probation period. Probation is usually 90 days, but since I worked for them many years ago they will waive my probation down to 30 days. Since it is part time I can still collect partial unemployment benifits, the result being about $80 more gross per week going to $110 more per week after I complete probation and get my first raise. It is not much, but more then I am getting now, and working only 31hrs per week it gives me plenty of time to keep on looking for a better position.

Additional good news: I am still smoke free. 14+ weeks and still off the cancer sticks.

There is none so devout as the convert.

Congrats on everything, Phil!! That's excellent!

Well, I just got back from a few days in Toronto, where I had the pleasure of meeting my very first DISer...Snowwark!!

Philaround - Congrats - that is wonderful news. Between that and the no-smoking, you are on a roll and should feel very proud.

Wishydoo, that is cool you got to meet Snowwark. Since it obviously was not a DIS meet, was it a planned meeting or by accident. (I always thought it would be the coolest thing if on an airplane to Orlando you were sitting by someone who in conversation turns out they're a DISer.)

Suzanne....it was a planned mini-meet.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit with Kim. She is so nice and has an excellent sense of humor...just like here on the boards.
:D
She also has the patience of a saint, as I babbled her ear off!!

LOL:p

WHAAAATTTTTTT!!!!!! I'm as close to T.O as Snowwark is? why wasn't I invited?????? Am I being shunned now?

And yes, congrats Phil, but if you take the job will you still have enough time to kill threads?

Well I went in yesterday to fill out paperwork for a background check. I was also fingerprinted and photographed. In a few days I should have my state license as a paramutual agent and then I'll start my jobs taking phone bets at Sports Haven here in New Haven. They take bets for 42 tracks [horses and dogs].

MaMudduck: I'll always have time to stop in and kill a thread

Howdy!!

philaround- that is WONDERFUL! My interview went well last Thursday, but they offer no insurance and said no decison would be made until this week.

Great interview yesterday at Texas Workforce Center, but they intervied all day yesterday and all day today. If the budget is approved they hope to make a decision Friday, but otherwise they have to wait until the budget comes through. I know they had LOTS to interview, though. They had over 200 apply.

I am so glad that you got it! That is wonderful news.
